EMT is offered as an independent, one term course. No other college courses are necessary to successfully complete this course. Successful completers are eligible to take the National EMT exam. Successfully passing the National EMT exam results in licensure as an Oregon EMT as well as also being nationally certified as an EMT. Please see Application Information Packet for details. Those pursuing the Associate of Applied Science degree in Paramedicine, please note that the EMT course, EMT151 (part 1) and EMT152 (part2), are required courses in the first year of the Paramedic program. Also note that state EMT licensure is required to apply to the second year of the program. The AAS degree in Paramedicine is required in Oregon to become eligible to take the National/Oregon EMT-Paramedic exam.
For students pursuing the Associate of Applied Science degree in Paramedicine, Lane also offers a Certificate of Completion created to assist students in transferring to another Oregon community college offering the two year paramedic program. In Oregon, community college paramedic program application processes require successful completion of all first year courses before being eligible to apply into the second year. Community colleges that accept the Certificate of Completion are Lane, Umpqua (Roseburg), Rogue (Medford), Central Oregon(Bend), Chemeketa (Salem) and Portland Community College.
There is no application process for the following first year courses: EMT175, EMT196, EMT169, EMT170 and EMT171.
