Welcome!

The Health Professions Division offers a variety of programs and classes to assist individuals wishing to enter healthcare careers. The excellence of each program is evidenced by our graduates' high scores on licensing board exams and rapid employment. All programs are accredited from governing boards.

As a community service, the Health Professions Division also provides a low cost Dental Clinic. The clinic supplements our Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene Programs. See below for additional information.

Program application requirements and processes vary and may differ from year-to-year. Programs begin fall term (exception is the EMT Basic class series which also runs a Spring/Summer series).

To Our Students: Please be informed that Lane Community College Division of Health Professions requires all students to submit appropriate personal information (such as immunization records, federal and state background checks, drug screens and others) to CastleBranch, a company specializing in the collection and storage of student health care information. Submission of required documents must be accomplished prior to the beginning of classes. Both the drug screens and background checks must be clear (e.g. absence of positive results for narcotics, marijuana, alcohol and/or other illicit substances for drug screen) to ensure clinical placements and graduation from Health Profession programs. Specifics on required documents, costs, timelines, and how to access CastleBranch, will be included in the letter of program acceptance and/or discussed at the Mandatory Program Orientation.

Dear Students:
Please be aware that you will be required to have a minimum 2.0 gpa at the time of graduation in order to graduate and receive your certificate or associate's degree from LCC. Please also be aware that only LCC courses count toward your final gpa.

Some of these programs and careers include exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases. Training is included to protect both students and patients.

STANDARDS OF CONDUCT IN THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA FOR HEALTH PROFESSIONS

Health Profession Students must be knowledgeable and respectful of the principles of patient/client privacy and confidentiality in safeguarding identifiable patient/client information as it relates to social media;

Health Professions Students who use social media should represent their own views, be professional and accurate in their communications.

Errors and omissions in communication, harassing statements, and unprofessional language presented via social media may have a long-lasting and possibly negative impact on the individual, their profession and/or the Division of Health Professions at Lane Community College;

Health Profession Students shall consider when and how to separate their personal and professional lives on social media.

Health Profession Students should be knowledgeable about clinical training sites' published policies on social media.

Health Profession Students shall not misrepresent when they are speaking for themselves or other organizations, educational institutions, clinical sites, or employers;

If an individual identifies content posted to social media by a colleague that appears unprofessional, s/he has a responsibility to bring that to the attention of the individual that has posted the content so that s/he can remove it or take other appropriate action;

Health Profession Students engaging in social media activities shall demonstrate appropriate conduct in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.

Dental Clinic Appointments
If you have not had a dental visit within the past two years, call (541) 463-5206 to schedule a screening appointment. The Lane Dental Hygiene Clinic offers low cost cleanings, X-rays and sealants.  Limited restorative appointments are available winter and spring terms.
