The goal of Lane Community College is to help students achieve their dreams and transform lives through learning. The faculty and staff are dedicated to helping students succeed. Lane partners with businesses in the community to help shape the current and future workforce.

Programs
Lane Community College is a comprehensive community college. The college offers a wide variety of instructional programs including transfer credit programs, School of Professional and Technical Careers programs, continuing education noncredit courses, programs in English as a Second Language and International ESL, GED programs, and customized training for local businesses. Classes are offered at several locations, and online classes and telecourses are also available.
Lane offers a range of culinary and hospitality, health, automotive, industrial, and flight programs.

Leadership
The Board of Education has primary authority for establishing policies governing the operation of the college and for adopting the college's annual budget. The board's charge is to oversee the development of programs and services that board members believe will best serve the needs of the people of the Lane Community College district.
Seven elected, non-paid persons comprise the Board of Education and have primary authority for establishing policies governing the operation of the college and adopting the college's annual budget. Enrollment
Lane is the third largest community college in Oregon with a total annual enrollment of over 36,000 students. About half the students taking classes for credit at Lane are enrolled full time, with the other half attending part time. Lane also offers non-credit courses focused on varied interests.

Admissions
One of the first steps to getting started at Lane is by completing the Steps to Enroll admissions process. Admissions are "rolling" throughout the year, but close one week before each term starts. If you are a new credit student, you must complete all of the "Steps to Enroll" prior to the beginning of a term, or wait until the next term. Classes fill quickly so apply at least 3 months in advance. Prospective as well as returning students can also contact Enrollment Services for information about admissions, registration, financial aid, programs and majors, and the variety of student services that are available.
History
Lane was founded in 1964 by a vote of local citizens, and the main campus opened in 1968. The college was a successor to the Eugene Technical-Vocational School that was founded in 1938. Lane has received many awards and accolades for its innovative programs and high quality instruction. The college is a member of the League for Innovation in the Community College.
Living Here
One of the advantages of attending Lane is living in the area. Lane's main campus is in Eugene, a city known for its quality of life and for being the home of the University of Oregon. Eugene is home to more than 153,000 people and neighboring Springfield has more than 57,000 residents comprise the second largest population center in the state. Eugene and Springfield are nestled in the Willamette Valley between the Pacific Ocean and the Cascade Mountains. Some peaks in the Cascade Range can be seen from main campus. The area's scenic mountains, forests, rivers, lakes, and coastline offer many opportunities for outdoor adventures or for just sitting back and enjoying the view.
