SENSE 2009

2009 Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE)

SENSE Survey Instrument - the survey instrument administered to all students enrolled in course sections that were selected by staff at the Center for Community College Student Engagement. Most of those course sections had returning students to Lane as well as entering/new students. 

Detail Findings about Entering/New Students - Counts and percentages of responses to each item on the Survey from students who reported they were entering/new students. There are reports for: all new students, new students enrolled full-time, and new students enrolled less than full-time. Each report compares Lane student responses with students from other Large Colleges, and all students who participated in the SENSE between 2009 and 2011.

  • Entering/New Students - responses to all questions on the Survey from students who reported it was their first term attending:  a) Lane,   b) another community college similar in size to Lane (i.e., Large Colleges), and c) all community colleges participating in the SENSE between 2009 and 2011. 
  • Full-time Students - responses to all questions on the Survey from students who reported they were enrolled full-time and that it was their first term attending:  a) Lane,   b) another  community college similar in size to Lane (i.e., "Large" colleges), and c) all community colleges participating in the SENSE between 2009 and 2011.
  • Part-time Students -  responses to all questions on the Survey from students who reported they were enrolled less than full-time and that it was their first term attending:  a) Lane, b) another community college similar in size to Lane (i.e., "Large" colleges), and c) all community colleges participating in the SENSE between 2009 and 2011.
