Theatre Program
Theatre at Lane!
If your goal is to work in the professional theatre, to act in front of the camera, or if you are still investigating your academic options, Lane is the place to explore theatre, sharpen your skills, and prepare yourself for the next step. The theatre program at Lane offers the foundational courses found at four-year schools, as well as specialized courses, but with drastically lower tuition and more hands-on opportunities.
Freshmen and sophomores have the opportunity to perform in major roles in main stage productions.
Student playwrights have the opportunity to see their plays produced in full productions each year.
Students direct each year in the main stage season.
Our two beautiful performance spaces, the intimate Blue Door and the Ragozzino Performance Hall, allow student designers and technicians the opportunity to work in state of the art facilities.
The Theatre program takes students to the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival every year.
It has become increasingly important for students to make smart financial decisions. Students who graduate with lower student loan debt are freer to pursue their chosen career without the burden of making high monthly repayments. Spending the first two years of your college career at Lane will allow you to graduate with less debt.
The Theatre program is designed to offer freshmen and sophomores practical experience without having to compete with upperclassmen. The small size of the program means that you will be able to appear in and work on productions while completing your AAOT. Which means that you will be able to transfer to four-year schools or conservatories and focus solely on your major.
Theatre Courses Include:
Acting 1,2 and 3
Intermediate Acting 1,2 and 3
Acting for the Camera

Student Production Association
All theatre productions at Lane are fully produced by the Student Production Association. SPA is a student-run organization that gives students hands-on experience in all aspects of producing theatre. The theatre program offers talent grants (full tuition waivers) to students who work on the SPA executive board. Positions are available in artistic direction, production, and theatre management.
Financial Support
The Theatre Program offers numerous scholarships ranging from full tuition to smaller awards. Students who qualify for Federal Work Study may also earn while they learn what they are passionate about. Scholarships are awarded for one term or a year.
