Profile: Olem is the head of the Studio Guitar department at Lane Community College keeping an active studio of up and coming guitarists. He is also a classroom instructor teaching courses ranging from Music Fundamentals to Jazz Improvisation. He earned his M.M. in Jazz Studies from the University of Oregon.

Along with teaching, Olem keeps busy in the music community performing with such groups as the Lane Faculty Jazz Group, the Olem Alves Duo featuring Ron Bertucci, his jazz/fusion group Inner Limits and as a solo jazz guitarist.
