Morning Program (8:30-11:30 a.m.) & Lane Rainy Day Food Pantry Collection

Dr. Gustavo Balderas, superintendent of Eugene 4J School District, will share his story and some thoughts on cultural "agility."

Dr. Balderas got his start as a student at Treasure Valley Community College. He has been an educator for more than 25 years as teacher, counselor, administrator, and superintendent in public education. Some of his career highlights include his work around equity and cultural proficiency and work in developing equity systems around instruction, student behavior and hiring practices. Dr. Balderas focuses his community volunteer efforts on working with non-profit organizations that focus on underserved students. He is the co-founder and past president of the Oregon Association of Latino Administrators.

All Staff Hosted Lunch* (11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.) & optional Wellness Walk

Pumpkin Pie and Apple Cider (12:15-1:15 p.m.) on the CML front patio.  Sponsored by CPDT 

*Lunch service will not be open to Lane staff prior to 11:30 a.m. Earlier arrivals may be accommodated based on extenuating circumstances. Thank you for your understanding and support of your colleagues.

  • Center for Student Engagement (student staff representing Christina Walsh).

10-11 a.m. Sustainability Tour

Sustainability Coordinator, Mike Sims, will provide a tour of key sustainability features in this new space that is expected to achieve a LEED Silver rating. Learn about the energy and water saving techniques, green and health materials, practices to improve indoor air quality, waste diversion strategies, and more.

Both tours meet at the 1st Floor Food Count near the north elevator
