The Labor Project
Portal for researchers to access the documentary history of labor in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. Collections of documents, photographs, personnel papers, and ephemera provide a window on the lives of workers as well as the politics of labor in the region.

University of Oregon Labor Education and Research Center
Makes resources and expertise of the higher education system available to workers, unions, policy makers, and community partners throughout Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. Includes research on labor and employment issues, technical assistance and consulting, provides public service and assists with public policy issues, publications, academic programs, classes, conferences.

White Bird
"...collective environment organized to enable people to gain control of their social, emotional and physical well-being through direct service, education and community." Programs include CAHOOTS - Crisis Assistance Helping Out On The Streets, drug treatment, acupuncture, counseling, crisis center, homeless services, volunteer and human services training, dental and medical services.

Oregon:

Oregon Single Payer Campaign (OSPC)
Made up of several dozen affiliate organizations from many different constituencies; grassroots movement working to pass single payer legislation in Oregon and working toward national legislation. Formerly Health Care for All Oregon. Includes calendar, info on Oregon and Federal legislation and resources.

Community Action Partnership of Oregon: Oregon's Poverty Fighting Network
Network of organizations across the state that fight for struggling Oregonians and the conditions they face every day; provides services to eradicate poverty in Oregon. Includes news, events, resources, advocacy info.

CASH (Creating Assets, Savings and Hope) Oregon
Committed to improving the financial health of low income working families and individuals. Includes info on tax and financial programs.

Oregon Action
Broad-based, multi-racial community organization dedicated to economic justice; focus on low-income people, people of color and others with limited access to traditional structures of power and policy-making. Includes events and resources.

PCUN - Pineros y Campesinos Unidos Del Noroeste - Northwest Treeplanters and Farmworkers United

PCUN En espanol
Union of farmworkers, nursery, and reforestation workers, and Oregon's largest Latino organization.Fundamental goal is to empower farmworkers to understand and take action against systematic exploitation and all of its effects. Includes job and internship openings, calendar, videos and photos, radio, publications and leadership institute.

Fair Contracting Foundation
Educate contractors and awarding agencies about state and federal wage laws, and to promote compliance with those laws.

Portland Jobs with Justice
Regional chapter of Jobs for Justice. Coalition of labor organizations and community groups dedicated to protecting the rights of working people and supporting community struggles to build a more just society. Mobilizes support for labor and community struggles at rallies, picket lines, educational settings and at meetings and hearings. People pledge to turn out to support other people's struggles at least five times a year. Includes campaigns, worker's rights board, resources, calendar.

Raises awareness that concentrated wealth and power undermine the economy, corrupt democracy, deepen the racial divide, and tear communities apart. Center for Working Class Studies
Creates social spaces for civic and academic conversations on working-class life and culture and its intersections with race, gender, and sexuality and serves as a clearinghouse for information on working-class culture, issues, and pedagogy; develops courses, organizes conferences, newsletter. Includes much info on working class studies and projects in the U.S., blogs, bibliographies, links, digital libraries, and more.

Class Action: Building Bridges Across the Class Divide

Poverty and Race Research Action Council
Connects advocates with social scientists working on race and poverty issues, promotes research-based advocacy strategy on structural inequality issues; sponsors social science research, provides technical assistance, and convenes advocates and researchers around particular race and poverty issues; supports public education efforts, including the bimonthly newsletter/journal Poverty & Race, and curriculum guide. Organization of scholars, teachers, labor educators, activists seeking to promote public and scholarly awareness of labor and working-class history through research, writing and organizing. National Alliance to End Homelessness
Committed to preventing and ending homelessness in the U.S. by improving policy, building capacity, and educating opinion leaders. Labor/Community Strategy Center

Change To Win Strategic Organizing Center

Worker Rights Consortium
Independent labor rights monitoring organization, conducting investigations of working conditions in factories around the globe; combats sweatshops and protects the rights of workers who make apparel and other products; conducts investigations; issues public reports on factories producing for major brands; and aids workers at these factories in their efforts to end labor abuses and defend their workplace rights; primary focus is the labor practices of factories that make university-related apparel. Workplace Fairness
Provides information, education, and assistance to individual workers and their advocates nationwide and promotes public policies that advance employee rights. Includes news, blog, info on job survival, special reports, legislative and court info, and extensive resources and links.
