Trainings

Diversity Trainings

Diversity Trainings are offered to support Lane's Strategic Direction to "Create a diverse and inclusive learning college: develop institutional capacity to respond effectively and respectfully to students, staff, and community members of all cultures, languages, classes, races, genders, ethnic backgrounds, religions, sexual orientations, and abilities."

Diversity Trainings are offered periodically throughout the year and are available to all. The Diversity Coordinator also responds to general and specific departmental and program requests for diversity, cultural competency and respectful environment trainings and can create curriculum for specific needs. Additionally, the diversity coordinator sponsors events and cross cultural conversations that can increase cultural competency. Some trainings and events have been videoed and DVDs of these are available at the diversity coordinator library.

We also invite you to give us your ideas about adding new trainings. Is there an issue that could be addressed that would promote Lane's Core Value of diversity and would "develop capacity to understand issues of difference, power and privilege?" A worthwhile training or workshop you attended that you think would be valuable to others in the Lane community? A skill you would like to share? Contact Donna Koechig, the Chief Diversity Officer, koechigd@lanecc.edu.
