Course Information
The Nursing Assistant course provides the student with the skills to perform basic level nursing care. Content includes introduction to health care facilities, role of the nursing assistant, communication, medical terminology, basic body structure and function, patient needs, basic growth and development, preventing infection, body mechanics, and much more. This course is approved by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
Upon successful completion of this non-credit course, students may sit for the Oregon State Board of Nursing certification exam for nursing assistants at an additional fee.
The Nursing Assistant course is offered every term. Two half-term sessions, or cohorts are usually available for registration:

- Monday, Wednesday, & Friday, 9 am -1 pm, at the LCC Downtown Campus, 101 W 10th Ave, Eugene, Room 327.
- Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 2 pm - 6 pm, at the LCC Downtown Campus, 101 W 10th Ave, Eugene, Room 327.
- Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday, 4 pm - 8 pm, at the Goodwill Job Connections, 855 Seneca
Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites required to register for the Nursing Assistant Course. NO application or pretesting is required for this course.
ONE TERM ONLY: The Nursing Assistant 1 course is ONE TERM ONLY. It is split into two half-term classes, one following the other:
Nursing Assistant 1 Class-Part One
This is part one of a two part course. Upon successful completion of Nursing Assistant Class-Part One, you will be able to register for Nursing Assistant Clinical- Part Two. Nursing Assistant Class-Part One and Nursing Assistant Clinical- Part Two must be successfully completed in order to sit for the Oregon State Board of Nursing certification exam to become certified. Each part costs $569.
Nursing Assistant 1 Clinical-Part Two
This is part two of a two part course. You must successfully complete Nursing Assistant Class-Part One, in order to register for Nursing Assistant Clinical- Part Two. Nursing Assistant Class-Part One and Nursing Assistant Clinical- Part Two must be completed in order to sit for the Oregon State Board of Nursing certification exam to become certified. This class is designed to prepare the student in a course of practice of basic level nursing care and skills.
Clinical days may not be the same as class days. Days and times will be available the first week of class.Cost for each half-term class is $569. Total cost is $1138 for the term.

Remember: Save your receipts, if you go to work in an LTC (long term care facility) after obtaining your certificate, and work there a minimum amount of time, you can obtain reimbursement for your course costs from that long term care employer...including textbook and testing fees!

Nursing Assistant 2

September 12-30, 2016
Next CNA 2 class will be offered Winter 2017
A CNA2 IS A CNA 1 who has received specialized training in more depth to assist licensed nursing personnel in hospital and other acute care settings in providing nursing care for patients.
CNA 2 costs $699. This course is a total of 80 hours, and meets for three weeks, Monday through Friday, from 3-9 pm
Prerequisites: CNA 2 students must be listed on the OSBN registry as a CNA in good standing in Oregon prior to enrolling in the program.
