Emotional Intelligence: The Anatomy of Happy, Healthy, Effective Organizations
Train the Trainer Program
Purpose
The Emotional Intelligence Train the Trainer (TtT) program at Lane focuses on two goals: (1) to broaden our awareness of how organizational health is impacted by findings in the neuroscience of emotional intelligence, positivity, and resilience and (2) to build internal capability within the college to carry the work forward.
This professional development opportunity is in keeping with Lane's Core Theme #3, Quality Educational Environment.
Trainers: Suzanne Rotondo and/or Lizza Robb, faculty from Redshift Leadership.
Outcomes
Participants in the Train the Trainer program will come away with:
- Mastery of the content;
- Personalized delivery tools (e.g., anecdotes);
- Enhanced facilitation skills; and
- Confidence facilitating the training content with an audience of 1 – 100.
Process
Participants will meet over two months and engage in the following four training phases:
Phase 1 (One-day Session): Friday, January 29, 2016
This highly interactive session provides an opportunity for all participants to immerse themselves in the latest findings in the neuroscience of emotional intelligence, positivity, and resilience through lecturettes, interactive exercises, mindfulness practice, and time to design an ambitious and practical plan for the next 90 days. Following the session, participants will gather for an official TtT kick-off.
Phase 2 (Three-day Session): Tuesday, February 16 – Thursday, February 18, 2016
Through an intensive three-day program, participants will learn the essentials of facilitating the Redshift Leadership EI & Positivity session. The hands-on training will provide opportunity for practice and Redshift faculty feedback. All materials are provided by Redshift Leadership. The training will include a session on Essentials of Dynamic Facilitation.
Phase 3 (Time Between phases 2 and 4): Friday, February 19 – Monday, March 14, 2016)
Participants will leave the Phase 2 training with assignments that will solidify learning and help each personalize their presentation of the material (e.g., crafting anecdotes to illustrate core concepts).
Phase 4 (Two-day Session: Tuesday, March 15 – Wednesday, March 16, 2016
This two-day workshop will give participants an opportunity to facilitate pieces of the EI session. The audience of participants and Redshift faculty will provide feedback as each participant hones their presentation of the material.
