Preparing for College
ABSE is a great way to start at Lane. Good thinking, Titan!
Step 1: You have earned your high school diploma or GED and want to improve your skills and prepare for college.
Students improve their placement scores by taking our low cost/no cost courses.
Step 2: You have completed the new student orientation.
(If you are a returning student you will need to be sure fees from the previous term have been paid. Then complete a current term registration form in ABSE and reserve your spot in class.)
Step 3: You have determined when and where you will take your classes.
See Class Schedules.
Courses
Adult Skill Development (ASD) courses offer instruction in reading, writing and/or math that focus on preparing college bound students for college placement testing and success in college classes.
Everything You Want to know About College Before You Start is a noncredit, pre-college admission class that will help those exploring college develop knowledge about starting classes, identifying key campus resources, understanding important college systems and operations, and developing strategies for succeeding academically.
Student Fees: ABSE/GED students enrolled at the Main Campus and Downtown Campus will be charged the current LCC Transportation fee of $27. This will allow students at these two locations to obtain a LTD Bus Pass at no additional cost. All other ABSE/GED sites will remain free of charge and students will not be eligible for a free or discounted bus pass through Lane CC.
Scholarships & Tuition Waivers
In addition to our college preparation classes, ABSE has several resources available to help you transition to college classes once you're academically ready.
