NOTE: Sam and Stacey are not VA employees.
The VA Educational Benefits Office assists students in determining their eligibility and application for VA educational benefit funding, is responsible for certifying those entitled to VA educational benefits, and also reports to the Department of Veterans Affairs if a student does not remain in compliance with VA rules and regulations for receiving these benefits.

The Maxwell Student Veteran Center provides a spot where Lane student veterans can take a breather, study, get questions answered, or make connections with fellow Lane student veterans.
The Center offers:
- PC and Mac computer stations with internet access (two are fully accessible), wifi, networked printer, and specialized software
- Lounge/study area
- Comfortable seating
- Meeting space
- Telephone for local calls
- Coffee
- Message board
- Veteran-related Lane and community resource information
- DVD/book/used textbook lending library
- Notebook computer loan program
- Current veteran-related magazines, periodicals, and literature
- Wifi for use with personal computers
- Telephone for local calls
The Maxwell Student Veteran Center is named in honor of World War II veteran Technician 5th Grade Robert Dale Maxwell, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. Mr. Maxwell was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for "conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at risk of life above and beyond of the call of duty on September 7, 1944." He was employed as an auto Mechanics instructor in Advanced Technology at Lane Comunity College in 1966; he retired in 1986.
