Academic Technology Center: The ATC is a one-stop support center for academic technologies, including all aspects of online instruction, Moodle set-up and use, media development,and web resources for instructional purposes. ATC staff provide troubleshooting, training, production assistance, and a drop-in lab to support the use of a wide variety of technologies for instructional purposes. The ATC lab is located on Lane's Main Campus, Building 02, Rooms 121 and 122. Contact information: (541) 463-3377, Email for the ATC.
Lane Events Calendar: The Lane Events calendar is an online resource for campus meetings, trainings, and special events. The calendar may be searched by date.
Teacher2Teacher Workshops: Presented by faculty tech specialists and other instructors from within the Lane community, the workshops are designed to be short, informative, hands-on sessions covering various technologies as they relate to instruction. Topics have practical application for any class that has access to computer presentation. No experience is necessary for any of the workshops. Workshops are held in the new Academic Technology Center (ATC) located in Building 2, Rooms 121 and 122. Registration is recommended as space is limited to 14 participants.

It is also a time to celebrate and acknowledge the challenges of being a student parent. Departments will provide a kid-friendly activity and a staff person or two to run the booth that highlights each department. Speaker on "Increasing Diversity in Profession." Honorable John V. Acosta, U.S. Magistrate Judge, worked as Senior Deputy General Counsel with
Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (Tri-Met) in Portland. Prior to Tri-Met, he was a partner with Stoel Rives LLP, largest law practice in Oregon, where he practiced employment law, representing employers in the area of employment litigation and counseling. He is admitted to practice in Oregon and Washington, the United States District Court for Oregon, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He is a member of the Oregon Bar's Professionalism Commission and serves on the board of director of Morrison Child and Family Services. Honorable John V. Acosta also mentors high school students. February 13 and 14: HR0060 Leadership for Non-Supervisors, City of Eugene, 8:30am - 5:00pm, two-day class, Fire/Police Training Classroom #1 (1705 West Second Avenue), $225. Instructor: Denise Smith. In this 2-day workshop, participants will learn how to recognize and use their own leadership style to positively influence performance in their work teams. The class is intended primarily for lead workers. It is also open to union officers, project leaders, and others with work team leadership assignments who do not have formal supervisory authority. This is recommended training for lead workers and others in informal leadership positions. Cancellation fee of $75 with less than 48 hours notice. February 15-17: Society for Applied Learning Technology conference, Caribe Royale Hotel in Orlando, Florida. The New Learning Technologies conference continues SALT's practice of bringing together senior professionals from government, industry, academia and the military to present the latest developments in the field of learning and training technologies. Over the course of 2½ days, attendees will have access
to 84 speaker presentations and 3 panel discussions. Case studies will be provided
as well as the results of recent research on the effectiveness and utilization
of the latest learning and training technology applications. January 11, 18, 25, and February 1: HR0325 Crucial Conversations, City of Eugene, 1:00pm - 4:30pm, attend one or all sessions, Fire/Police Training Classroom #5 (1705 West Second Avenue), $165. Instructor: Denise Smith. Conversations become crucial when stakes are high on one side or the other; emotions are high and there is a difference of opinion. When these conditions exist, this is also the time that our default ways of dealing with it is to not address it or approach it in a way that seems to make the situation worse. This 16 hour course will explore 8 key skills we can draw on and practice for when our conversations become crucial. It means taking good self-responsibility for what is happening and trying to change it when things are going wrong. Based on the bestselling book "Crucial Conversations; tools for talking when the stakes are high" by Grenny, Patterson, McMillan and Switzler. January 20: Diversity Strategic Direction Conference Lane Main Campus, sponsored by Lane Professional and Organizational Development. The Diversity Strategic Direction Conference will be held Friday, January 20, 2012, from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, featuring Dr. Lee Anne Bell, author of "Storytelling for Social Justice, Connecting Narrative and the Arts in Antiracist Teaching." Diversity is one of the key strategic directions of focus for this year at the college. Participants will engage in presentations facilitated by our keynote speaker and breakout sessions facilitated by Lane staff. Sessions will center on the identification and recognition of "stock stories" and the role they play in creating and sustaining systems of oppression, as well as ways to develop a practical and critical framework for thinking and acting on concealed stories reflecting racism and other "isms". Join us and participate in this innovative approach to address and engage the college's efforts towards student progression and completion.
