Job-search book for community college students and experienced workers co-authored by LCC instructor

EUGENE, OR - A new book written expressly for community college students and experienced workers, "Find Your Next Professional Job," has been published by Mosaic Eye. Authors are Lane Community College Cooperative Education coordinator and instructor Tamara Pinkas, and Scott Weighart, formerly of Northeastern University.image of Tamara Pinkas

The 247-page softcover book reviews all of the need-to-know essentials for community college students and experienced workers seeking an internship or new career. Topics include career planning, resume writing, interviewing, on the job performance, and more.

Pinkas decided to write the book after years of working as an internship coordinator without a targeted text for community college students who are "nontraditional," that is, older, more experienced, and in many cases, back in college to retrain for a new career. She met Weighart, who had written "Find Your First Professional Job," at a conference. They decided to collaborate on a new book specifically for community college students and experienced workers.

Besides how-to, the book features the viewpoints of actual students with a wide variety of real-life experiences. It retails for $27.95.

Pinkas has taught and worked as a cooperative education coordinator at Lane for 20 years. The program is one of the nation's oldest and largest Cooperative Education programs, serving approximately 800 businesses and 2,000 students a year. Many students are hired after their internships.
