Admission to the Graphic Design Program

GD 2016 Admissions PosterLane's Graphic Design Program is a two-year vocational/technical program leading to either an Associate of Applied Science degree or a Certificate of Completion. First year courses are open to all students. Room is limited, however, for those who wish to take the second year courses. Each May/June, students interested in the second year of the program must go through an official application process.

Admission into the second year involves filling out an application, providing transcripts, preparing an assignment, writing an essay, and submitting a portfolio of your work. The different components in the application process are weighted as follows:

  1. Portfolio 80%
  2. Essay 20%

This process takes place during the last two weeks of Spring term of each year. Information about specific dates and requirements will be posted on-line in this site or is available in the Art Office (Art bldg 11 room 101) starting Spring term.

Many classes required to complete two-year programs can be transferred to four-year colleges. Be sure to check with your counselor or the institution you are transferring to for current information.
