The Language, Literature and Communications Division (LLC) addresses language use across a wide range of study. In LLC, students learn to extend their ability to use English effectively in oral communication situations (Speech Communication classes) and in written contexts (Writing classes), where they write for a variety of purposes and audiences. In literature and film classes, students experience other worlds and diverse perspectives that challenge them to reflect on their understandings and assumptions of individuals and groups, as well as cultures and institutions. Students learn to communicate appropriately in languages other than English (Chinuk Wawa, French, Spanish); The guides for these academic journeys are talented and dedicated faculty who put student learning, transformational teaching, and social justice at the heart of their work.
