  • Enrolling at Lane
    • Enrolling can be done completely online, but it first requires that you have an email account. Here's a link on how to get a free personal email account at Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail etc.
    • The Enrollment and Student Financial Services (ESFS) department handles the enrollment process. The ESFS pages have links to information on all aspects of getting enrolled and registered for classes. Choose "Admissions" in the sidebar on the left side of the page and you'll see a list of useful topics related to getting enrolled (being admitted) at Lane.
    • For academic counseling, visit the Academic Advising website, email coundept@lanecc.edu, call (541) 463-3200, or go by the Counseling and Advising Center at the 30th Avenue campus, in Building 1, Room 103.
    • Steps to Enroll in Credit Classes - For Students New to Lane: the ESFS page at this link will guide you through the enrollment process. The process is slightly different depending on whether you are a first-time college student, a prior college student, a re-enrolling student or a College Now high school student. You'll also find links on this page for Academic Advising, New Student Resources and myLane. Important aspects of the enrollment process include:
      • Be sure to complete the enrollment process before the deadline for the upcoming term you want to register for. Check out the deadlines at this link.
      • Enrolling requires you complete an online application form. The "Admissions/Readmissions" page that links to the form is a little complicated; here's a link to a guide for that page.
      • It's not required, but as part of the enrollment process you may also apply for financial aid using an online form.
    • When your enrollment process is complete you'll receive your student L number for logging in to myLane. See the section directly below on this page on myLane for information on registering for classes.
  • myLane: Lane's website for registration for classes and managing your information
    • myLane is your home base for all your personal accounts and information at Lane. You'll find an icon link for myLane at the bottom right of every Lane web page.
    • Enrollment and Student Financial Services (ESFS) is the Lane department which oversees enrollment, registration and student financial issues. Go to the ESFS page and choose the "Registration" link in the left sidebar for helpful information on this and other myLane topics.
    • Whether you are a first-time or continuing college student, the ESFS guide to registering for courses will give you lots of information.
    • First-time registration requirements
      1. First, registering for classes requires that you be officially enrolled at Lane. See the "Enrolling at Lane" section above for complete information on getting enrolled.
      2. If you haven't taken college courses before you will have to take placement tests in reading, writing and math.
      3. Go to myLane and log in to initiate your myLane account if you haven't already (use the temporary myLane password sent to you via email after you completed the admissions and enrollment process). Here's an ESFS guide to "First Time User Login".
      4. Complete the New Student Information Session: after logging in and initiating your myLane account, you will be prompted to complete the New Student Information Session (New Student Information Session). The New Student Information Session is a brief online guide to going to school at Lane.
      5. Complete an New Student Academic Advising session: if you are a first-term student at Lane, before you can register for classes you will also have to complete an New Student Academic Advising session (New Student Academic Advising). If you have problems completing the New Student Information Session and New Student Academic Advising, here are two helpful gudes:
      6. When you have completed the New Student Information Session and New Student Academic Advising you'll be able to register for classes, following the steps outlined directly below.
    • Registering for classes and more using myLane
      • Before you register for classes, plan well. Talk to your department advisor and have a term-by-term schedule in mind, then use the "CLASS SCHEDULE" link to research what classes are available, and jot down the name and CRN (course registration number) for each class you're interested in.
      • Log in to myLane, and then go to the myEnrollment tab to add or drop classes, get class book lists, print a class schedule and much more.

  • Moodle
    • Moodle is a web site that provides Lane's LMS (learning management system) technology. There are other LMS technologies in use in education, such as Blackboard, which for example is used by the University of Oregon.
    • Most Lane courses use Moodle to some degree. Courses offered online use it extensively, often in conjunction with other websites that deliver content and other course tools.
    • Moodle is used for:
      • General course delivery and management
      • Providing the syllabus and other course documents
      • Displaying a week-by-week class schedule
      • Giving quizzes and exams and other assignments
      • Displaying student scores and grades
      • Providing forums and wikis for student and instructor interaction
    • To log in to Moodle use your L number and the same password you use for myLane. After you log in you'll see a list of your current classes to choose from.
    • Moodle Help for Students is a course offered in Moodle to teach you how to use Moodle. 
    • Moodle Student Orientations are offered periodically during the year.
    • The SHeD can answer all of your questions on Moodle. Call them, email them, live chat with them, or drop by.
  • Computer labs and printing
  • Tutoring Services and resource centers with tutors
  • WiFi access on campus
    • WiFi is free for students at Lane.
    • Use it for your smartphone, tablet and laptop computer.
  • AskLane, a place to find answers to many questions about going to school at Lane
    • The AskLane search text box is at the top right of every Lane web page. It's another place to go when you are looking for an answer to a question about Lane. It provides a searchable database of answers to commonly asked questions about Lane Community College.
    • Just click in the "Search or AskLane" text box, click on the radio button for AskLane and then type in your question, and if you don't get the answer you need, email your question to AskLane@lanecc.edu.
    • You can also use the Lane site search tool to find a specific department or other information about Lane. When you click in the
