The Program
The Coder Dojo at Lane Community College is a nationally connected and locally developed open-source computer coding project designed for elementary, middle and high school students to receive age-appropriate code training in a college environment. All for free, thanks to the generous financial support from the City of Eugene from 2014-2016.
The program aims to create interest in the field of computer science, especially among girls and underrepresented youth. The Dojo is a collaboration between the City of Eugene, Lane Community College, Eugene 4J school district, local computer industries and organizations, and the University of Oregon.
This spring, the project earned national recognition for promoting digital equity, and was named the Community Broadband Digital Equity Project of the Year by the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisers (NATOA) Board of Directors.
Signing Up
The Dojo uses the service, Meetup, to notify you of upcoming workshops and events, and allows you to RSVP to high-demand sessions (like Lego Mechanics!). Sign up for the Dojo's Meetup and join the fun.
Workshop Content
The Dojo provides a range of workshops for elementary, middle, and high school students, all held in Lane Community College's downtown campus across from the public library in Eugene. Sessions are between the hours of 3:30-7p.m. during the weekdays, as well as Saturdays, allowing all school-age children to participate. Special sessions may also be held during academic breaks.

Support the Project
Interested in supporting the Dojo's work into the future? This demonstration program has only one more year of pilot funding from the City of Eugene. The Dojo is actively seeking long-term support from the community to continue into the future, both from individuals and industry.
