SUSTAINABILITY UPDATE - SOLAR THERMAL PROJECT
A multiple-building solar thermal project is currently in the design phase. This is a unique and innovative project that includes funding from the Health and Wellness Building, Deferred Maintenance, and the Bond. The project involves installing solar thermal panels on the new Health and Wellness Building. These panels will heat water that will be used in the Laundry, the Health and Wellness Building, and Building 5. Since hot water needs and production can vary from day to day and term to term, any excess hot water produced by the panels will feed into the college's central heating system. This renewable energy project will reduce the college's natural gas costs and carbon emissions associated with natural gas use. Contact: Jennifer Hayward, (541) 463-5594.
