Project Status - Construction Complete

BUILDINGS 4 AND 5 ADDITION AND REMODEL
The remaining tasks to close out the projects in Buildings 4 and 5 will be completed this week. During spring break, Lease Crutcher Lewis will have construction crews working in all areas of Buildings 4 and 5, and locker rooms and showers will be closed.

December 7, 2010
BUILDING 4 IEQ REMODEL
Demolition began Monday, December 6 on the Building 4, Rm. 107, Dental Lab remodel. All contents of the room will be cleaned and removed to storage. Flooring and most cabinets in this room will be replaced. All mold and asbestos containing materials will be abated. The lab's exhaust system will be upgraded to help ensure a clean and safe work environment. Ceiling tiles will be cleaned or replaced in this room and throughout the entire dental lab workspace. This project will also include flooring replacement in the adjacent reception area and offices. Work will be completed the week of December 27 with offices available to staff on December 28.

BUILDING 4 REMODEL
The building 4 project was one of the most challenging projects completed this year. A joint effort with Lane staff, GBD Architecture, and Lease Crutch Lewis made this project a success. The entire HVAC system constructed below ground in the 1960s was abandoned and a new HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning) system was installed. The new duct system has a sealed air supply and return air system makes the indoor air quality the highest quality possible. The new floor design added six new classrooms and a new computer lab with new computers. An open floor plan and large windows will provide a comfortable environment for students to enhance their education. Most staff members will be returning this week to a new office space that is larger, with better indoor lighting, and in an environment constructed to LEED standards. Large exterior windows and indoor glass provide day lighting inside the building giving staff a natural well-lit working environment.

BUILDING 4 REMODEL
General contractor LCL and its subcontractors are working seven days a week cleaning all areas getting ready for the moving crews to start moving staff into their new office the week of September 13. This fast paced time in the project has heightened the awareness for safety, and LCL is requiring safety equipment be used by all staff and construction employees until the project is completed. Exterior painting of Building 4 started this week and will be on going through S FMP will be working with the contractor to complete parts of the building that were touched during the remodeling. On September 2 the new HVAC system was put into operation allowing the system to flush all the new smells out of the building before staff is moved in.

BUILDING 4 REMODEL
Classrooms and offices are on schedule to be completed by September 17. Crews have painted the classrooms, and carpet was installed last week. Carpet was installed in the new offices and cabinet installation started on Friday, August 20. Exterior windows and siding are ongoing and are expected to be completed by August 31.

BUILDING 4 REMODEL
Lease Crutcher Lewis, the general contractor, has increased work forces and project supervision on the Building 4 project. Despite the many hidden setbacks to the construction schedule, the project will be completed on time and ready for fall term. During this phase of the construction, contractors will be painting the exterior of the building. Power washing and painting of the exterior of the building is scheduled to start this week and will continue through the remainder of August. The dental lab that was temporally located in Springfield for the summer will be returning to the campus the week of September 13.

BUILDING 4 REMODEL
Installation of the new air system is on schedule and is expected to be completed by September 15. Classrooms on the second level have been framed out and have received the final coat of paint. Installation of doors and windows is scheduled to start later this week followed by the installation of floor covering the week of August 23. Once installation of the floor covering is complete, the interior finished will begin. The classrooms are schedule to be completed by the first week of September.

BUILDINGS 4 AND 5
Concrete placement for the dance studio is completed and steel for the building is being erected this week. Building 4 classrooms are 80 percent complete and HVAC system installation is on going and is expected to be completed on time. The building 5 project wall board installation will begin this week.

BUILDING 4 REMODEL
The project is on schedule and will be completed by mid September. Conflicts with the HVAC installation are now in the past and the project is progressing smoothly. Final finishes on the second level has started this week with painting the classrooms and new offices.

June 15, 2010
BOND UPDATE: BUILDING 4 REMODEL
The general contractor will start installing fences and temporary walls on the second level of building 4 and select locations on the first floor. Access into certain areas is restricted to anyone not part of the construction and/or moving crews. The dental lab will be moving to their temporary location the week of June 21. The general contractor will be accessing room 130 and removing part of the concrete floor on Monday to install a temporary air system for the dental board exams on June 18, 19, and 20. Light demolition began on the first floor on Monday June 14. This activity will be in a selected area only to ensure the areas used for the dental board exams are not affected.

BOND UPDATE: BUILDING 4 REMODEL
Most of the demolition is complete on the second level of the building. More demolition will have to be completed but will not start until after the dental board exams scheduled later in June. The second level of the building will no longer be accessible to staff and students until construction completes.

BOND UPDATE: BUILDING 4 REMODEL
Wall construction has started on the second level of building 4 and is expected to cause some minor vibration sounds and produce a light burning smell when the steel is being trimmed to fit. HVAC contractors have installed most of the main runs for the new air system on the second floor breezeway and are expected to start branch lines into the main parts of the building this week.

BOND UPDATE: BUILDING 4 REMODEL
Contractors have mobilized to the site for demolition and to begin framing on the second level of the building. This activity is expected to cause loud noises at times and a burning metal smell when steel wall studs are cut to size will be noticed in the vicinity. This work is expected to last for the rest of the term. This week, contractors will be installing new air ducts for the new HVAC system in the open hallways and breezeways. The new ductwork will not be connected to the existing air system until the end of June.

Construction scheduled to begin May 3 with the contractor performing light demolition work in selected areas on both the first and second floors of the building. This activity is expected to be noisy at times, during the day and evening hours. At the beginning of the week of May 10, temporary fencing will be placed in and around the areas of Building 4 blocking access to the upper floor of the building. After fencing is installed, access to certain areas of the building will require advance notice to the general contractor before entering the area.

BUILDINGS 4 & 5 REMODEL/ADDITION
A (CM/GC Construction Manager-General Contractor) agreement was awarded to Lease Crutcher Lewis and approved at Board of Education meeting on March 17. LCL has been attending meetings with Lane coordination staff and bid packages will be advertised to the public by March 26. A tour of building 4 is scheduled for March 30. Contractors are working with the trades on calculating the anticipated needs of material and equipment to order right away in effort to avoid potential construction delays. Limited construction activities are expected to begin on the outside of building 4 on April 28, but this work is not expected to cause disruption to staff or students.

BUILDINGS 4 & 5 REMODEL/ADDITION
Construction Manager/General Contractor reviews are complete and recommendations are being reviewed. A decision is expected this week. Architects are working to complete the construction documents for both buildings and construction setup is expected to begin as scheduled on June 14. Construction activities and demolition are expected to begin June 21 after the state dental exams are complete. Since work to remodel building 4 will be in progress, beginning June 21 through September 15 the LCC dental lab will be operating in a new location. The location has not been determined but is expected to reside off campus.

BUILDINGS 4 & 5 REMODEL/ADDITION
CM/GC selection process has brought to the team a General Contractor working on buildings 4 and 5. Testing for foundation soil is complete and no further testing is necessary at this time. The architect is currently working on the construction documents and is expected to have them completed mid March.

BUILDING 4 REMODEL AND BUILDING 5 REMODEL/ADDITION
GDB architecture is working on completing construction documents so permits can be obtained from Lane County. Classroom construction is expected to start mid June and will be completed by the fall term. A meeting is being scheduled to work with the user group on plans for the relocation of the Dental Clinic for the summer. A few locations were identified and viewed for consideration, but none have selected at this time.

BOND UPDATE: BUILDING 4 REMODEL AND BUILDING 5 REMODEL/ADDITION
Soils testing is scheduled for February 17 at 8 a.m. The testing agency will be sectioning off small areas north of building 5 where they will remove large amounts of soil to obtain samples. When soil sampling is complete, the holes will be backfilled and all sectioned areas will be reopened.

ALL DEFERRED MAINTENANCE PROJECTS COMPLETE
BOND UPDATE: BUILDING 4 REMODEL AND BUILDING 5 REMODEL/ADDITION
The project is currently in the construction document phase and with that comes the work of engineers, architects, and specialty contractors who are focusing on the buildings inside and outside gathering relevant information necessary to prepare the construction documents. Work that may include opening classroom doors and looking at the inside from windows might be distracting but this activity is not typically disruptive.
Over the next few weeks, two testing agencies will be on the site to conduct surveys for information required for new construction. PBS is currently conducting an asbestos survey of building 5 that will allow Lane to hire a contractor to remove anything that might contain asbestos. Removing the asbestos from areas recommended is expected to start in May and will take several weeks to complete. FEI will be performing soils testing that will include using large equipment on the north side of building 5 to obtain a sample from below the asphalt so engineers can determine a foundation design. This activity is not expected to start until the first week of February.

Design documents have been completed and the projects have moved into the construction document phase. The construction documents are expected to take several months to complete and actual construction activities should begin this summer. Last week, construction coordinators worked with building 4 occupants to determine a temporary office space location to use during the remodeling phase.

Design documents have been completed and the project is now moving into the construction document phase. The construction documents are expected to take a few months to complete and actual construction activities should begin by summer. Construction coordinators are now working with building occupants to determine a location for temporary office space to use during the remodeling phase.

PROJECT 448 KEYLESS ACCESS
The contractor, Allied Fire & Security, is currently installing door hardware on Building 7. After work is completed on 7, the next buildings are 6, 16, 19 and Center. Hardware installations on buildings 8, 9, 12, 15, 4, and 13 have been completed to date, though some procedural and hardware/electronic issues remain on these buildings. The remainder of the buildings will be commissioned through winter and spring terms. FMP electricians will be concentrating on the keyless access system over the next several months.

PROJECT 449 ASBESTOS ABATEMENT
The deferred maintenance crew is working on installing new PVC insulation covers for Victaulic fittings in tunnel system between buildings 4 and 7. Remaining tunnel work is 15 percent complete. FMP is assessing material and labor needs to complete insulation installation of all mechanical rooms.

PROJECT 454 BUILDINGS 4 AND 5 REROOF
Umpqua Roofing has very minor punch list work awaiting dry weather to complete.

PROJECT 455 RESTROOM UPGRADES
Building 4 first floor restrooms punchlist is to be completed August 28. Building 4 second floor restrooms tile installation to be completed this week and cured. Final hook-up starting next week with anticipated completion September 18. Building 6, level 1 restroom plumbing, ceiling and partitions are complete. The restroom is substantially complete awaiting a new door September 3 and turnover with the new door on September 10.

SUSTAINABILITY IN DEFERRED MAINTENANCE ROOFING PROJECTS
The Building 4 and 5 roofing projects include a significant improvement in roof insulation. Facilities estimates that this project will annually save 3,289 therms of natural gas and 96,296 kilowatt-hours of electricity, resulting in an annual decrease in energy costs of $8,336. This project contributes to Lane's goal to become carbon neutral.

PROJECT 451 UTILITY SUBMETERING
Completed meter installations this week: water meters for buildings 1, 2, and 5; electrical meters for buildings 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26, and 27. Main building isolation valve replacements this week: domestic cold water in buildings 4, 5, and 6. In addition, eight water main valves were replaced.

PROJECT 454 BUILDINGS 4 AND 5 REROOF
The lower part of building 5 is complete and Umpqua Roofing is schedule to complete the upper part of building 5 on September 3. Skylights may be installed in October due to problems with the supplier.

PROJECT 455 RESTROOM UPGRADES
Building 4 first floor restrooms punchlist to be complete August 28. Building 4 second floor restrooms paint, HVAC, ceiling grids and lights complete. Tile will be installed and allow to cure over the next two weeks with an anticipated completion of September 18. Building 6 lower level restrooms HVAC, electrical and ceiling installation is complete and workers will complete plumbing and install partitions and hardware over the next week. A new door is scheduled for September 3 and the restroom is scheduled to be turned over for use September 10.

PROJECT 451 UTILITY SUBMETERING
The following meter installations were completed this week: water, buildings 4, 17, 18, and 19; natural gas, building 19. Main isolation valve replacements this week: domestic cold water, buildings 2, 3, 18, and 19.

PROJECT 454 BUILDINGS 4 AND 5 REROOF
Metal roofing on building 5 is on schedule and expected to be completed mid-September. Skylights located in the open area between buildings 4 and 5 have been delayed but the contractor is working with the subcontractor to install the skylights by September 15.

PROJECT 455 RESTROOM UPGRADES
Building 4 first floor restrooms punch list work is ongoing with an anticipated completion date of August 28. Building 5 second floor restrooms rough-in inspections are complete and drywall installed. August 17 to September 18 contractors will paint and install HVAC, ceiling grids and lights. Building 6 level 1 restrooms tile installation is complete. August 17-21 plumbing, HVAC, electrical and ceiling installation will be completed. The restroom is expected to be opened after a new door is installed September 15.

PROJECT 456 & 457 CLASSROOM UPGRADES
Classroom upgrades are on an accelerated schedule to have classrooms ready for fall term. Most of the rooms have been upgraded with freshly painted walls and new carpet and lighting. Seven new podiums per week are arriving and being stalled in classrooms by Information Technology staff. Building 4 classrooms are on a fast track schedule with six deferred maintenance staff working 50 hours a week to make sure the classrooms are completed. Wallboard will be installed August 14-21. Door and ceiling installation and painting is expected to start August 24. Occupants on the second floor may experience odors from this construction activity.

PROJECT 445 STAIR AND HANDRAIL RENOVATIONS
Stairs in parking lot L, stairs leading to building 19 and stairs in building 4 are completed, except for handrail installation. Rails for the parking lot should be delivered within the next week.

PROJECT 454 BUILDINGS 4 AND 5 REROOF
New access ladders will be installed after the metal roofing on the outside of building 5 and cap metal flashing is complete. The skylight contractor is scheduled to be on site the week of August 10 and a pre-installation meeting will be held to plan for working over an area that is expected to have a lot of pedestrian traffic. The project is on schedule to be completed in +mid September.

PROJECT 455 RESTROOM UPGRADES
Punchlist work is ongoing in building 4 first floor restrooms. Building 5 second floor restrooms mortar bed replacement is complete; framing, plumbing rough-in complete; and electrical rough-in is ongoing. Building 6 lower level restrooms tile installation is ongoing.

UTILITY SHUT DOWN SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 21, 22, AND 23, 2009
HVAC will be shutdown in Building 4 on August 21. Electricity will be shut down in Building 4 on August 22 and 23.

PROJECT 445 STAIR AND HANDRAIL RENOVATIONS
Stairs in parking lot L, stairs leading to building 19 and stairs in building 4 are completed except for handrail installation. Rails for the parking lot should be delivered within the next two weeks.

PROJECT 446 EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Christensen Electric, the contractor for the exterior lighting replacement, continues to auger four foot deep holes for the pathway pole and bollard bases this week. 20% of the wall pack LED fixtures are installed. Look at the lower levels of buildings 15 and 17 to find them. 90% of the Cree LED soffit lights have been installed, with building 4 waiting at this point due to construction schedules. The rest of the LED fixtures to be installed are shipping this week, with installation to follow as schedules permit.

PROJECT 448 KEYLESS ACCESS
Allied Fire & Security continued work in Building 1 Student Services, Building 8 Welding, and Building 4 Health. Dave Smith, the project coordinator, met with representatives of Building 1 to discuss their requirements for access and gave a presentation of the system to public safety. Meetings will continue until all the campus buildings have been reviewed and requirements established. Electricians are installing conduit in multiple buildings on campus. 25% of the infrastructure is complete.

PROJECT 456 CLASSROOM UPGRADES
Deferred maintenance crews are installing the remaining white boards this week. Work in building 15 rooms 206 and 208 will be completed by August 28. Painting is being done with low VOC paint and some classrooms might have odors for a few days after being painted. Carpet being installed in the classrooms is made of recycled materials and is installed without glue. In building 4, framing and rough-in electrical for the interior wall is complete and a section of floor will be filled with concrete on August 3. Framing and block work has started at the new classroom entrances. Expect noise the week of August 10 during the masonry work.

Sustainability in Deferred Maintenance Restroom Upgrades
Lane is working to incorporate sustainable practices into all of the deferred maintenance projects. The restroom upgrades in Buildings 4, 5, and 6 involve replacing old toilets that used 3.5 gallons per flush with new auto-flushing dual flush toilets. These toilets automatically flush either 1.1 gallons or 1.6 gallons. The replacement of 45 toilets in these three buildings will result in approximately 130,000 gallons of water saved per year. Saving water saves the college money and helps preserve habitat in and around the McKenzie River.

445 Stair and Handrail Renovations
Remaining concrete steps in parking lot 'L, and steps leading to bldg 19 will be poured on Friday, July 24. Installation of handrails remains. Completion of painting and handrail installation remains to be done on Building 4 steps.

PROJECT 452 ELECTRICAL UPGRADES
LCC deferred maintenance electricians have been replacing up to 43 obsolete and unsafe electrical panels at the main campus. Work will continue to replace 30 additional panels in Buildings 4, 5, 11, and 12 in future weeks through the summer. 65% of the backbone conduit and control panel boxes are installed, buildings 9, 24, 12 (except for the paint booth), and 13. Panel upgrades are on hold for now due to class room schedules. Building 7 is complete, Building 4 is 75% complete. Buildings 11 and 5 are on order and we may change them out on August 22nd and 23rd. Departments effected by this work will be notified in advance in accordance with College policy.

Project 455 Restroom Remodels
Building 4 1st Floor Restrooms exterior doors replaced; punchlist item work ongoing. Building 5 2nd Floor Restrooms demolition complete, plumbing rough-in in progress. Framing on hold awaiting decision on replacement of mortar bed. Building 6 Level 1 Restrooms rough-in complete; framing and drywall complete. Design changes to install Men's room door complete.

Remaining concrete steps in parking lot 'L' will be poured this week. Installation of handrails remains. Long set of steps leading from 'L' to building 19 have been removed and new steps are scheduled to be poured on July 27. Metal stair frame in building 4 has been installed and step treads have been poured. Painting and handrail installation remain.

PROJECT 452 ELECTRICAL UPGRADES
LCC deferred maintenance electricians continue to replace up to 43 obsolete and unsafe electrical panels at the main campus including 30 additional panels in buildings 4, 5, 11, and 12 during the summer. Departments effected by this work will be notified in advance in accordance with college policy. The piping for the renewable energy project was insulated which concludes the first phase of the project. LCC Facilities staff will meet with Evergreen Engineering later this month to discuss the campus electrical systems one line verification and update, arc flash studies, and overcurrent coordination studies.

PROJECT 456 CLASSROOM UPGRADES
Currently 26 classrooms are being upgraded to smart classrooms with more starting August 1. Third Generation Painting has completed many of the classrooms and will start painting walls in buildings 8 and 9. Deferred maintenance crews will be patching concrete floors and walls in building 8 rooms 110 and 122 and patching walls and running electrical in Center building rooms 416, 427 and 432. Rooms that have been painted and will have podiums, whiteboards and new carpet installed over the next three weeks are Center building rooms 401, 402, 416, 423, 425, and 427, and building 16 rooms 126, 140, 161 and 271. Deferred maintenance crews will begin work on building 15 rooms 206 and 208 and building 19 rooms 109, 203 and 132 next. In the building 4 first floor classrooms, demolition is complete and deferred maintenance crews have been modifying the electrical system and installing new walls. The HVAC contractor will be on site laying out the new system for the classrooms and modifying the existing system starting the week of July 20. Eugene Mirror and Glass is scheduled to begin installation of the store front system the week of August 12.

PROJECT 445 STAIR AND HANDRAIL RENOVATIONS
Work continues on steps in parking lot L this week. Expect the last steps to be poured on July 20. The long set of steps leading from parking lot L to building 19 have been removed and new steps should be poured on July 27. Metal stair frame in building 4 has been installed and the first pour for step treads will be July 13.

PROJECT 452 ELECTRICAL UPGRADES
LCC deferred maintenance electricians have been replacing up to 43 obsolete and unsafe electrical panels at the main campus and completed eight panels in Building 7. Work will continue to replace 30 additional panels in Buildings 4, 5, 11, and 12 through the summer. Departments affected by this work will be notified in advance in accordance with college policy. Twin Rivers Plumbing contractors finished piping work last week in the tunnel system and in building 7 for a renewable energy project. Evergreen Engineering has finished the Campus Electrical Systems one line verification and update, Arc Flash studies, and overcurrent coordination studies and submitted plans and recommendations.

PROJECT 455 RESTROOM REMODELS
Remodel is complete in Building 4 first floor restrooms and the restrooms are open. Punchlist items are being addressed. Exterior doors scheduled to be replaced July 16-17 during which time restrooms will be out of service. Building 4 second floor restrooms demolition are ninety percent complete. Demolition in building 6 lower level restrooms is complete and framing, plumbing and electrical rough-in have started.

PROJECT 449 ASBESTOS ABATEMENT
Pacific Environmental has now completed 80% of the tunnel work along with other various locations in other buildings. Building 4 abatement activities took place this week and have been completed allowing construction to continue in that area. On Friday, July 10, 2009 Pacific Environmental will be working on removing the asbestos materials from each of the boiler rooms on campus. Every Friday from July 10, 2009 forward, the HVAC units will be turned off at different locations for abatement activities. Most all areas can be completed in one day. Center is scheduled to take two or three days and will be completed over a weekend when the campus is closed.

PROJECT 454 BUILDINGS 4 & 5 REROOFING
Stedman Sheet Metal is finishing up on the roof peeks of Building 4 and will be installing the cap flashing at the edge of the building by the end of the week. Once the cap flashing is installed the Building 4 roof replacement will be complete. The next task for Stedman Sheet Metal is to start installing metal roofing on the west side of Building 5. Umpqua Roofing has started to tear off the sloped side of Building 5 this week and is expected to have the tear-of work completed by July 8, 2009. The flat roof work has started over the top of the Building 5 gymnasiums. This work should be completed by the end of next week. This section of roof has no tear off of the old materials. Umpqua Roofing has made adjustments in their schedule to accommodate activities taking place in that area.

PROJECT 455 RESTROOM REMODELS
The remodel is complete in Building 4 first floor restrooms. Temporary occupancy was approved on July 2, 2009 and the restrooms are now available for use. Exterior doors will be replaced on these restrooms within the next two weeks. This final work will not affect occupancy. Building 4 second floor restrooms will be out of service for demolition starting July 6, 2009. Demolition in Building 6 first floor restrooms is complete. Plumbing rough-in is ongoing.

BUILDING 4 & 5 DUCT CLEANING AND REPAIR
During a deferred maintenance project to reroute an ineffective drain line under Building 4, a buried underground supply air duct was broken by a jack hammer. A small amount of dirt and concrete debris got into the duct. This happened on Saturday, June 6. The supply air duct serves Building 5 Room 125. Concurrent with this incident, an underground water line broke. The broken line was shut off within 15 minutes, but during that time some water was found to be leaking from a return air duct into the Building 4 mechanical room. The return air duct was not punctured by the jackhammer, but it must have lost some of it's water-tight seal so that when the ground became saturated with water, some of that water got into the duct.
The broken supply air duct has been patched. FMP has scheduled cleaning of these ducts and re-sealing of the return air duct on Saturday and Sunday, July 18 and 19.

PROJECT 445 STAIR AND HANDRAIL RENOVATIONS
Replacement of connecting stairs in south parking lot L is continuing. The long set of steps leading from 'L' to building 19 have been removed. These stairs are scheduled to be completed by early August. Rumble strips have been created in designated parking lots and roads on the south and west sides of the campus. Stairs between buildings 4 and 5 are gone and new stairs should be installed by mid-August.

PROJECT 454 BUILDINGS 4 & 5 REROOFING
Umpqua Roofing has completed the tear-off and reinstalled the flat roof section of building 4. Stedman Sheet Metal is currently working on installing the metal over the peeked roofs on building 4 and is expected to be completed with that area by Friday, June 26, completing the last roofing activity for building 4. Umpqua Roofing started the tear-off of the old roofing material a few days ago and is now currently working over the PE tower between the gymnasium and the fitness center. Weather permitting, removal of the old material on building 5 is expected to be completed June 26. Installation of the sheet metal roofing on building 5 is expected to start on June 29 and is scheduled to be completed by September 15.

PROJECT 455 RESTROOM REMODELS
Work continues in building 4 first floor restrooms. Temporary occupancy is anticipated June 26. Demolition in building 6 level 1 restrooms to start June 22.

PROJECT 445 STAIR AND HANDRAIL RENOVATIONS
Replacement of connecting stairs in south parking lot L is continuing. These stairs are scheduled to be completed by mid-July. "'Rumble strips" in designated parking lots and roadways will be cut in this week. Stairs between buildings 4 and 5 have been removed and the contractor will pour concrete footings and floor patches Wednesday, June 17.

PROJECT 454 BUILDING 4 AND 5 ROOF REPLACEMENTS
Umpqua roofing continues to strip off old roofing materials and is now installing 2 inches of additional closed cell insulation and either the metal standing seam roofing on the sloped roofs or a white TPO type single ply roofing on the flat roofs. This work is progressing nicely and is expected to be completed in late summer.

STAIR AND HANDRAIL RENOVATIONS
Replacement of connecting stairs in south parking lot L is continuing. These stairs are scheduled to be completed by mid-July. Demolition of the stairs between buildings 4 and 5 will occur June 6-7. Minor plumbing and footing work for the new stairs will occur in the lower level of building 4 the week of June 8.

WEST ENTRANCE ADA RAMP UPGRADE
Site clearing for the west entrance is completed and underground plumbing has begun. Some over excavation had to be done to ensure the new access ramp on the southwest corner of building 4 was placed on solid ground.

BUILDINGS 4 & 5 REROOF
Umpqua Roofing is removing the old composition roofing and installing new insulation and metal roofing on building 5. The metal roofing material is being loaded on the roof of building 5 by a crane service and is expected to continue the week of June 8. Flat roof work over building 4 will continue this week.

445 West Entrance ADA Ramp Upgrades:
Site clearing for the west entrance is completed and underground plumbing has begun. Some over excavation had to be done to ensure the new access ramp on the south/West corner of building four as placed on solid ground.

454 Buildings 4&5 Reroofing
Umpqua Roofing is currently working on the top of building #5 removing the old composition roofing and installing new insulation and metal roofing. Currently they have finished the west side and will be moving to the North side, weather permitting. Last week, construction activities shook loose a white power material from the underside of the roof in the gym and the material was tested by PBS. The material was found to contain nothing harmful to the students and staff. New metal roofing showed up on site on Monday June 1, 2009 and installation started on Tuesday June 2, 2009. The metal roofing material is being loaded on the roof of building five by a crane service and is expected to continue the first part of next week. Flat roof work over building four has started and is expected to continue for a few more days. Currently, they are working over the walkway of building four.

BUILDING 4 FIRST FLOOR RESTROOM UPGRADES
The first floor restrooms will continue to be out of service. Essex General Construction will have Acoella tile finish installing the wall and floor tile this week. The installation of the ceiling tile and fixtures will begin the week of June 1st.

DEFERRED MAINTENANCE STAIR AND HANDRAIL RENOVATIONS
McKenzie Commercial began installing curbs in parking lot L south of building 16. Demolition of the steps between the upper and lower levels of building 4 and 5 will occur June 6 and 7.

DEFERRED MAINTENANCE BUILDING 4 REROOF
Umpqua Roofing began the flat roof May 26 with tear off and replacement of the flat roof and gutter system. Access to building 4 along the tennis court will remain closed until next year for work on the roof and the Health and Wellness building.

DEFERRED MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE OVER THE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
Due to the Memorial Day holiday, the deferred maintenance teams will not be working on Saturday May 23 or Monday the 25th. The majority of contractors are not scheduled to be working either, although there may be activity around Buildings 4 and 5 with the reroofing project. A crane is scheduled in Saturday morning to lift materials on to the roof. Lane's project coordinator, Mark Richardson, will supervise.

DEFERRED MAINTENANCE BUILDINGS 4 and 5 RESTROOM UPGRADES
The first floor restrooms in building 4 will continue to be out of service. Essex General Construction began installing sheetrock and painting on May 18. Building 5 west toilet room and first shower bay will be out of service until June for installation of wall tile and shower drains. No other showers will be taken out of service until the first ones are complete.

DEFERRED MAINTENANCE WEST ENTRANCE ADA RAMP UPGRADE
Construction activities for the new west entrance began Monday, May 18. Demolition will last for five days and is expected to be very disruptive to staff at times. Deferred maintenance staff will be trained to help maintain safe passage for the pedestrian traffic and act as an information source to students trying to gain access to buildings 4 and 5.

DEFERRED MAINTENANCE BUILDING 4 REROOF
Umpqua Roofing is currently working on the top of building 4 removing the old composition roofing and installing new insulation and metal roofing. The new insulation will give better sound barrier for the offices below with providing better thermo protection from the weather changes. Access to building 4 along the tennis court has been closed for construction traffic only and will remain closed until next year. Access to the field is posted on sign boards and will be updated as work continues.

DEMOLITION WORK TO BEGIN FOR ADA ACCESS PROJECT
Demolition work on the west side of Building 4 has started. The contractor has posted signs and maps around the area indicating the new temporary ADA access to Building 4. A temporary fence has been installed to keep people out of the construction area. Beginning Monday, May 18th, there will be a high volume of dump truck traffic around Building 4. The dump trucks will be hauling off the demolition debris. During construction hours a member of the deferred maintenance crew will be directing pedestrian traffic by the road and will be a contact person for students and others who are trying to make their way to Building 4.

DEFERRED MAINTENANCE BUILDING 4 WORK
The west side building 4 access ramps and reconfiguration will continue with mobilization and demolition of this area. Demolition on the roof of building 4 is being done systematically and a new roof installed along the north side first. Noise and dust will be present as part of this work. Access to the lower level of building 4 will soon be re-routed along the north side of the building. Detour maps will be posted.

WORK BEGINS: BUILDING 4 RESTROOMS CLOSED FOR REMODEL
A public quote opening for contractors was held Wednesday, April 15 on all of the deferred maintenance projects. The results will be posted on the deferred maintenance web site by Friday, May 1. Projects will be awarded to the apparent low bidders. Work is scheduled to begin on all projects this week.
Essex Construction began work April 27 on building 4 (Health) restrooms 142 and 144. The restrooms will be out of service until about June 5. Restrooms 266 and 267 off the PE lobby on the second floor will be available.
More than 25 new deferred maintenance trades employees started on April 27.
Comprehensive safety training for all deferred maintenance employees is being coordinated.
