Steps to Successful Program/Discipline Assessment

1. Identify student learning outcomes of the program or discipline sequence.
(Target date: May 15 annually- Updates can be sent at any time.)
Use the Assessment Planning Guide.

2. Identify at least 2 proposed tools for assessing each student learning outcomes at the program level.
(Target date: May 15 annually- Updates can be sent at any time.)

3. Describe the level of expected performance and criteria for assessment
For helpful suggestions, see Lane's Rubric for Assessment Plans.
(Target date: June 15 annually)

4. Identify a manageable process and overall (three to five year) timeline to complete assessments for all program outcomes.
(Target date: June 15 annually)

5. Report findings based on data collected.
(Target date: April 10, annually)

6. Report actions taken to continuously improve the quality of student learning.
(Target date: April 10, annually)
