Program Overview

The Early Childhood Education PASS program is a part-time evening program that integrates college level Early Childhood Education credit courses, and non-credit foundational skills courses. It is designed to prepare ABS/GED/ELL students to transition into college level studies. Students in this program will take both college credit classes and program specific non-credit classes simultaneously. At the end of the program students may have earned a Career Pathways certificate, earned credits towards an AAS degree, and have develop their college success skills. Students will also receive coaching towards either continuing their education and/or job search support.

Who should apply for the Early Childhood Education PASS?

The ABS to ECE Pathway is specifically designed for those individuals interested in pursuing a career in ECE and who are at least one of the following:

  • English Language Learners
  • Individuals who have not completed a high school diploma or GED
  • Individuals with an Accuplacer reading score of 70 or lower
  • Other individuals who might benefit from additional reading/writing support, college success coaching, and integrated advising.

What days and times are the classes held?

THIS IS AN EVENING COHORT!
Students will also have additional homework and online work. The cohort will be three terms long, beginning Fall 2016 and ending Spring 2017. Classes are scheduled Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. Coaching and support after completion of classes may continue at various lengths based on each individual need.

What is the cost of this program?

THIS IS NOT A SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM!! The cost of this program is based on normal tuition and fees. Students take one college course (3-4 credits) and one non-credit course per term. We assist students in finding appropriate scholarships and Financial aid to help them with the cost of tuition and fees. Ultimately any un-covered cost is the students’ responsibility. There are many targeted scholarships available to students eligible for this program. Integrated advising, coaching and job search support is offered at no additional cost to the student.

*Students without a GED or high school diploma may be eligible for Federal Financial Aid for this program based on Ability to Benefit guidelines.
