LCC Foundation honors an individual, a business, and a foundation for supporting student success

image of Rich Truett and Mary SpildeEUGENE, Ore. — The Lane Community College Foundation Board awarded the President’s Circle Award for Philanthropy to an individual, a corporation, and a foundation during this year’s President’s Circle reception.

The reception honors those who have made annual gifts of $1,000 or more to the Lane Foundation, have remembered the Foundation in their estate plans, or have made lifetime commitments of $10,000 or more to the Foundation. The President’s Circle Award for Philanthropy recognizes ongoing financial support of the Foundation, advocacy for Lane’s mission through leadership or volunteer service, and a commitment to encouraging philanthropy in the community.

· President’s Circle Award for Philanthropy–Individual was awarded to Niles and Mary Ann Hanson. The Hanson’s are dedicated to the arts and committed to alleviating students’ struggles. The Niles and Mary Ann Hanson Music Scholarship Fund supports students who are music majors and intend a career in music. Niles is the chief executive officer of Northwest Stamping and Precision, Inc. Mary Ann is member of the LCC Foundation Board of Trustees and serves on the Eugene Symphony Association Board of Directors. Niles and Mary Ann have been members of the President’s Circle since 1998.

· President’s Circle Award for Philanthropy–Corporation was awarded to Bi-Mart. Since 1955, Bi-Mart has supported the communities it serves, with stores throughout the Oregon, Washington and Idaho. Bi-Mart has been a member of the President’s Circle since 1999 and has donated more than a quarter-million dollars to support deserving LCC students. Bi-Mart has sponsored business scholarships, athletics, computer information sciences, and diesel technology at Lane. Bi-Mart invests in the education of the local workforce and offers partial tuition reimbursement for employees to continue their educational pursuits.

· President’s Circle Award for Philanthropy–Foundation was awarded to the Haugland Family Foundation, which was founded by LCC alumna, Rosaria Haugland. The Haugland Family Foundation has generously sponsored scholarships and contributed to capital projects such as the Health and Wellness Center and the Center for Learning and Student Success. The Haugland Family Foundation has been a member of the President’s Circle since 2001, and since then has given almost $2.5 million to Lane Community College.
