EUGENE, Ore. - The Lane Community College women Titans basketball team clinched the Northwest Athletic Conference Southern Region Title on Feb. 20 and will host Everett Community College in the first round of the NWAC championship tournament on Saturday, March 5 at 3 p.m. in the Titan Gym, building 5, Lane main campus. The winner will advance to the Elite Eight hosted by Everett on March 10-13.
“It has been a long time since any post-season games have been played on our campus in basketball,” says Greg Sheley, Lane’s head women’s basketball coach since 1999.
The Women Titans and Sheley are no strangers to success, however. Their record includes NWAC championship titles in 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2013, and the longest home game winning streak of any college basketball team with 83 straight home game wins from 2002 and 2011, to mention a few examples.
