MLK celebration features journalist April Ryan, Jan. 19

Journalist April Ryan visits Eugene Jan. 19, 2016EUGENE, Ore.— The 2016 Eugene Community Celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day will feature keynote speaker April Ryan, noted journalist and veteran member of the White House press corps.

The celebration will be held Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 7 p.m. at the University of Oregon, Columbia Hall, Room 150, 1585 E 13th Ave. Parking is available at the Ford Alumni Center, and at metered spaces along University St., 15th St., and Agate St.

Ryan has been the White House correspondent for American Urban Radio Networks since January of 1997, covering three presidents. AURN has 300 affiliate stations. Ryan published the book, “The Presidency In Black and White: My Up Close View of Three Presidents and Race in America.” She is a Baltimore native and a second generation Morgan State University graduate.
