Eugene, Ore. – Student Productions Association of Lane Community College will hold auditions for their production of Martin McDonagh's The Pillowman on July 27 and 28. Tara Wibrew, Associate Producer for Oregon Contemporary Theatre and former SPA president, directs.
Auditions will be held at Oregon Contemporary Theatre, located at 194 W Broadway in downtown Eugene, from 5:30–7:00 pm; no need to sign up for an audition time. Please bring a resume and recent photo. Auditions will consist of reading from the script; no additional monologues necessary.
With echoes of Stoppard, Kafka, and the Brothers Grimm, The Pillowman centers on a writer in an unnamed totalitarian state who is being interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories and their similarities to a series of child murders. The result is an urgent work of theatrical bravura and an unflinching examination of the very nature and purpose of art.
Roles are available for all types, genders, and ages. Auditions are open to students and community members. Rehearsals begin mid-September, with performances November 13-21, 2015. All rehearsals and performances will take place in the Blue Door Theatre on LCC's Main Campus.
