Academy Award-winning and Tony-nominated playwright Martin McDonagh's "The Pillowman" follows a series of gruesome murders that are shocking similarity to short stories written by Katurian — the prime suspect. Katurian's brutal interrogation by police exposes his secret past and unveils the bizarre world of "The Pillowman." Fantasy, reality, torture, and compassion intertwine in this dark comedy. Tara Wibrew, former SPA president and current Associate Producer at Oregon Contemporary Theatre, will direct.
"Winter Shorts"
Auditions TBA
Performances: February 4-14, 2016 in the Blue Door on Lane's Main Campus.
Formerly known as "Spring Inspirations," this evening of short plays written, directed, and produced by theatre students at Lane is an opportunity for students and community members to participate in the enlightening process of presenting full productions of brand new works for the stage. Feedback from audience members is a valuable part of the experience!
"Cymbeline" by William Shakespeare directed by Bill Hulings
Auditions TBA
Performances: April 22-May 1, 2016 in the Ragozzino Performance Hall on Lane's Main Campus
"Cymbeline" has been called an "action-adventure fairy tale." Princess Imogen's stepmother wants to kill her, and her love thinks she has been unfaithful. So, in true Shakespearean style, she cross-dresses and explores the wilds of ancient Britain in an effort to set everything aright. Fans of the Bard will relish the opportunity to see this rarely produced play, and audiences new to Shakespeare will see and hear a tale of adventure as compelling today as it was 500 years ago. Professional actor and director Bill Hulings will direct. SPA is thrilled to be working with one of the most respected theatre professionals in Eugene.
