LCC Foundation honors an individual, a business, and a foundation for supporting student success

President Mary Spilde with Doug McKayEUGENE, Ore. - The Lane Community College Foundation Board awarded the President's Circle Award for Philanthropy to an individual, a corporation, and a foundation at the President's Circle reception held on May 21.

The reception annually honors those who have made annual gifts of $1000 or more to the Lane Community College Foundation, have remembered the Foundation in their estate plans or have made lifetime commitments of $10,000 or more to the Foundation. The President's Circle Award for Philanthropy recognizes ongoing financial support of the Lane Community College Foundation, advocacy for Lane's mission through leadership or volunteer service, and a commitment to encouraging philanthropy in the community.

President's Circle Award for Philanthropy–Individual was awarded to Mr. Doug McKay. Doug is a member and manager of McKay Commercial Properties, developing and managing retail, industrial, and office property. He is member of the LCC Foundation Board of Trustees and has served on many local boards. Doug and has made significant contributions to capital improvements at LCC, and is committed to removing barriers to education through support of scholarships for Lane students. He has been a member of the President's Circle since 2009 and has generously donated to the Lane Community College Foundation since 1987.

Mary Spilde with Doug McKay and Susie PapéPresident's Circle Award for Philanthropy–Corporation was awarded to The Papé Group. Since 1938, The Papé Group has promoted its family-oriented business model throughout the Pacific Northwest. The Papé Group is headquartered in Eugene and operates in 8 western states. Its history of philanthropy began with its founder, Edward C. Papé, Jr., and continues today. This family-run business has been a member of the Lane Community College Foundation President's Circle since 1990. The Papé Group also sponsors the Foundation's annual Harvest Dinner, provides funding for scholarships at LCC, and has generously donated a number of pieces of equipment for use in LCC's flight technology, construction technology, and diesel technology programs.

President's Circle Award for Philanthropy–Foundation was awarded to The Coeta & Donald Barker Foundation. The Barker Foundation has been an enduring supporter of LCC students and programs for over 30 years. Committed to nursing education, the Barker Foundation generously endowed a scholarship for nursing students in 2010. The Barker Foundation has been a member of the Lane Community College President's Circle since 1984, and recently awarded a grant to create a veteran-specific student handbook and orientation at Lane Community College.
