EUGENE, Ore. - The LCC Choirs take the stage in LCC's Ragozzino Performance Hall on June 4 at 7:30pm. The concert features the Lane Chamber Choir, The Lane Concert Choir and the Lane Gospel Choir. Special guests for the concert are the Willamette High School Topnotchers, under the direction of Katie Reuter.
The program features the beautiful, challenging piece "Requiem", by Gabriel Fauré (1845 - 1924), performed by the Lane Chamber Choir, under the direction of Matthew Svoboda. The Chamber Choir is on tour performing "Requiem" around Lane County, and they are pleased to close the season performing it for their home audience at LCC.
The Willamette High School Topnotchers, under the direction of Katie Reuter, will perform "A Boy and a Girl", by Eric Whitacre, and "Sunday Morning" by Maroon 5. They will then join the Chamber Choir for a lively rendition of the Beatles tune "Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da".
The Lane Concert Choir will perform a set consisting of the traditional Zambian tune "Bonse Aba", arranged by Andrew Fischer, "Nine Hundred Miles" a traditional American folk song arranged by Philip E. Silvey, and the spiritual "Little David Play on Your Harp", arranged by Rollo Dilworth. The Concert Choir will close their set with Leonard Cohen's signature piece "Hallelujah", arranged by Roger Emerson.
The Lane Gospel Choir, directed by Vicki Brabham, will close the concert with their usual mix of soulful gospel and hand-clapping, foot-stomping praise hymns.
Tickets for the concert are $5 general admission, and $3 for students and seniors 55 and over. Advance tickets may be purchased online at www.lanecc.edu/tickets.
