Community college students can explore four-year options at Oregon Transfer Days

Local event is Jan. 27 at Lane Community College

EUGENE, Ore. - Oregon Transfer Days is a series of statewide workshops held annually at Oregon's 17 community colleges to help students successfully transition to a four-year college or university. Locally, this year's event will be Tuesday, Jan. 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lane Community College in the Center Building first floor cafeteria area.

Students will have the opportunity to meet with college and university representatives and learn more about each campus's offerings, admissions requirements, choosing courses wisely, navigating college costs and financial aid, and finding tools to make their transition as seamless as possible.

The numbers of community college students transferring has increased significantly, say event organizers, due to numerous factors and new partnerships including co-enrollment and articulation agreements between community colleges and universities; new options such as the Oregon Transfer Module, which enable students to ensure that their credits will apply at a four-year institution; and a greater recognition that having a four-year degree provides additional opportunities in the job market.
