Lane SBDC Advisor/Instructor Megan O'ConnorEUGENE, Ore.— The Lane Small Business Development Center (Lane SBDC) recently obtained a grant from the Small Business Administration (SBA). The year–long $47,000 grant, awarded on October 1, will help businesses in distressed communities start, stabilize, grow and create jobs.

The grant will target early stage and small–established firms (one to nine employees) in rural Lane county, providing entrepreneurial training and advising in Cottage Grove, Florence, Junction City, Leaburg, Lowell, Oakridge and Vida. Advisor Megan O'Connor expects to counsel a minimum of 60 clients, with projected performance results including ten new business startups and $150,000 in capital infusion.

O'Connor, advisor/instructor for Lane SBDC's Start, Run, Grow (SRG) Virtual Incubator program, brings a wealth of knowledge and immense enthusiasm to her efforts. She explains, "With this funding, we will be able to focus efforts in rural communities, where chambers have been asking for assistance."
