EUGENE, Ore. - Lane Community College kicks off a year-long 50th anniversary celebration as grand marshal of the Eugene Celebration Parade on Saturday, Aug. 23, beginning at 11 a.m. at South Eugene High School.
The college also is title sponsor of that evening's concert at the Cuthbert Amphitheater beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Parade onlookers will see the college's Diesel Technology bus (donated by LTD), ambulances from the Emergency Medical Technology program, and a whole lot of supporters in LCC 50th anniversary T-shirts who will hand out Story Cards inviting the public to post their favorite remembrances about LCC online at lanecc.edu/50.
Lane will participate in events throughout the 2014/15 academic year to celebrate it's 50th anniversary, and will host a community celebration on main campus on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
Voters founded Lane with a 5-to-1 margin of support in a special election on October 19, 1964. Since then, thousands of students, businesses, workers and others have achieved their dreams at Lane. Today, Lane is among the most renowned community colleges in the nation.
