EUGENE, Ore.— The Lane Community College 49th Annual Commencement will be held Saturday, June 14, at the Lane County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall. The processional begins at 3 p.m.
Dr. Mary Spilde, President of Lane Community College, will present opening remarks, followed by Board of Education Chair Rosie Pryor, Associated Students of Lane Community College President Paul Zito, and faculty representative Tamara Pinkas.
Featured speakers are Alan Overwater, an honor student who overcame learning difficulties to earn his associate degree, and Senator Jeff Merkley.
About 1,800 students will earn degrees, diplomas or certificates at Lane this year; about 400 will walk in the commencement ceremony. The ceremony takes about two hours and ends with a recessional.
