EUGENE, Ore. - The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) will conduct a year-7 accreditation evaluation at Lane Community College on Oct. 29, 30 and 31, 2014. The team will appraise Lane's performance, integrity and quality as well as note achievements and recommend improvements.
The team invites written and signed public comment on Lane's qualifications for reaccreditation prior to the site visit, to be received no later than Sept. 29, 2014, at the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, 8060 165th Avenue N.E., Suite 100, Redmond WA 98052-3981, or fax (425) 376-0596.
Accreditation requires several stages of self-study including 1-year, 3-year, 5-year, and 7-year reports which show how the college meets accreditation standards and policies. Lane currently is engaged in its 7-year self-study. The self-study will be presented to the accreditation team and is available online at www.lanecc.edu/accreditation.
Accreditation qualifies institutions and enrolled students for access to federal funds to support teaching, research and student financial aid.
Lane has been accredited by NWCCU since 1968. NWCCU last reaffirmed accreditation for Lane in February 2012. NWCCU is an independent, non-profit membership organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as the regional authority on educational quality and institutional effectiveness of higher education institutions in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.
