EUGENE, ORE. – The Lane Community College Art Gallery is proud toelements and forms, a two-person exhibition featuring Anna Stehle and Douglas Wiltsire.
The featured artists of this current exhibition are the Lane Community College Studio Technicians, Douglas Wiltshire and Anna Stehle. Douglas works in the sculpture studio and Anna works in the ceramics studio within the Department of Art and Applied Design. The exhibition consists of both sculpture and ceramics, along with installation work.
When asked to reflect on his current work, Douglas stated, "The many disciplines of fine art never cease to amaze me. I am caught in the wonder of so many media to experience and discover. The multiple combinations and meanings they can project makes me feel like a child in a candy store. Thus far, I have too many mediums and stylizations to consider developing a particular signature or genre that many artists explore. Through time I am sure I will develop into my own niche. For now, I am enjoying the journey."
Focusing specifically on her ceramic endeavors, Anna discusses her work as, "further exploration into flameware cooking pots. Inspired by a conversation with a colleague who wanted a larger piece to cook in I pushed the form and myself out of the comfort zone of smaller pieces."
The show runs from April 28 to May 22. There will be an artist lecture, Wednesday, May 7 at 3:00 pm with a reception immediately following. The gallery is located in building 11 on the main campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue. There is no charge for admission. The Art and Applied Design Department phone number is 541-463-5409.
