EUGENE, Ore. — Lane Community College writing instructor and filmmaker Johnnie Mazzocco will screen her first feature-length film, "Found Objects," on Tuesday, April 15 from 2:30-4:30 p.m., in Building 17, Room 307 on Lane's main campus, 4000 E. 30th Ave., Eugene. The event is open to the public.
"Found Objects" is a story of loss and inspiration and a search for self, told from the perspective of a woman who is both an artist and a mother of three. It's about creative women's compulsion to make art and their struggle to do so in the domestic sphere. Its main themes concern gender, gender roles, the institutions of marriage and motherhood, and the necessity to create for the sake of one's personal authenticity, spiritual serenity, and sanity.
Mazzocco will be present for a Q&A after the screening. The screening of "Found Objects" is sponsored by the Lane Women's Program, Bijou Art Cinemas, Oregon Handwork Studio, Franklin Village Motel, and Moroccan Buzz.
