Recruiting Senior Companions throughout Lane County

Senior Companion Barbara (R) with clientsEUGENE, Ore.—Are you a people person with time on your hands? Help your neighbors in Eugene, Springfield, Florence, Junction City, or Veneta —and earn a tax-free stipend of $2.65 an hour in the process.

As a Senior Companion Program volunteer, you will help frail elders and adults with disabilities stay independent, by providing them with weekly visits. Some reimbursement for meals and mileage included. You must be age 55 or better, meet low income guidelines, serve 15 or more hours weekly, and pass a physical exam and criminal background check. Complete pre-service training and ongoing support is provided.

The federal Senior Companion Program has been sponsored locally by Lane Community College for almost 40 years.
