EUGENE, Ore.—The Lane Community College Foundation raised nearly $300,000 at its 11th annual Harvest Dinner and Auction held Oct. 30. This year's event was chaired by Commissioner Sid and Mrs. Debbie Leiken.
All proceeds directly benefit student scholarships and educational opportunities. The Foundation invests in the community by transforming lives through learning and assisting students in achieving their dreams through education.
"We are amazed at the incredible outpouring of generosity and investment in our students by our community," said Development Director Tiana Marrone-Creech.
The event raised $36,000 more than last year, made possible in part by the generous sponsorships of local businesses including title sponsor Lease Crutcher Lewis.
The Foundation works with Lane's Culinary Arts and the Hospitality Management program to present the dinner. Students work under a guest chef and instructor to cook the multi-course meal for nearly 400 diners. This year's guest, Chef Raghavan Iyer, worked with students to prepare a traditional Indian menu. Chef Iyer is a Certified Culinary Professional, member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP), holds degrees in chemistry and hotel and restaurant management, and is a culinary educator and an international culinary consultant. The event was held at the Center for Meeting and Learning at the Lane Community College main campus.
