Eugene, Ore. – Student Productions Association of Lane Community College is seeking actors for their upcoming production of Samuel Beckett's "Waiting for Godot" to be produced in February.
Samuel Beckett's classic Absurdist comedy is the story of two friends who bide their time while waiting for Godot. Who is Godot? Why is it so important we wait for him? What do we do while we wait? Where is my hat? Our two heroes ask themselves these and many other questions in their quest for meaning. Their trials are complicated when two travelers who pass by fill our heroes with doubt, dread, and a little bit of relief. The production is directed by Brian Haimbach, the new head of the theatre program at LCC. Brian was recently seen on stage at Oregon Contemporary Theatre as Dan in "Next to Normal" and is directing "Who Am I This Time," opening at OCT in November.
Auditions are Monday and Tuesday November 18 and 19 from 4:00 -6:00 pm in the Blue Door theatre on LCC's main campus. Auditionees need to attend only one day and may arrive any time between 4:00-6:00. Auditionees will read from the script, no need to prepare a monologue. For copies of the script and audition materials, or to schedule an alternative audition time, e-mail haimbachb@lanecc.edu.
Roles are available for five to eight actors of all ages, types, and genders. Auditions are open to the public and, as with all shows at LCC, the public is encouraged to audition.
Rehearsals will be scheduled based on actor availability and will start in early to mid-December. No rehearsals will be scheduled from December 20-31. Performance dates are February 6-8 and 12-15, 2014.
