Eugene, ORE – "FIGURATIVELY SPEAKING," an exhibition of figure studies made on the Oregon Coast by John Watson, will open at Dot Dotson's Photography, 1668 Willamette Street, on October 11. An opening reception will be held on October 11 from 4-6 pm, with a free wine tasting sponsored by Mark Nicholl of William Rose Wines and the Oregon Wine Lab.
Watson says "Since moving here in 2008, I have been fascinated by the raw power of the Pacific Ocean and its ability to carve and shape the coastline. This project was a true collaboration. The model's poses are her interpretation of my desire to record the human form echoing, complementing and contrasting the forms of the coast." The work will be on display through November 7. Watson holds both BFA and MFA degrees in photography. He teaches courses in the Art History of Photography for Lane Community College.
