LCC Foundation receives substantial gift of equipment

Douglas Weiss, Wendy Jett and David BeedeEUGENE, Ore.—TE Connectivity, a Pennsylvania-based maker of cables and connectors, has donated electrical, scientific and manufacturing equipment worth more than $45,000 from their Wilsonville, OR site to the Advanced Technology Division of Lane Community College.

David Beede, Environmental Health and Safety Manager of TE Connectivity Medical, directly facilitated this generous donation. An alumnus of the college (class of 1995), Beede said that he wanted to give back to the institution and specifically noted his thanks to Dennis Carr, LCC Director of Human Resources, for his mentorship.

The donated items include high-powered microscopes, industrial lasers and other industrial equipment and will be used in the Electronic, Fabrication/Welding and Manufacturing programs, to name a few. Division Dean of Advanced Technology Dean Pat O'Connor thanked Beede for TE Connectivity's generous donation, noting that having this state-of-the art equipment will provide relevant workforce training and overall instruction at Lane.
