EUGENE, OR - Three new deans have joined the executive team at Lane Community College including Dawn DeWolf, Maurice Hamington, and Kerry Levett.
Dawn DeWolf began as Executive Dean for Academic Affairs-Career Technical in February. She has been with Lane since 2003, as division dean of Adult Basic and Secondary Education, and dean for Workforce Development. She is known for developing strong partnerships and collaborations with key community partners and for administering state and federal grants. In 2007, she was the interim state director for adult basic education for the Oregon Department of Community Colleges and Workforce Development. DeWolf has a master's degree in adult education from Oregon State University and a bachelor's degree in rehabilitation counseling from Eastern Montana College. She replaces Andrea Newton, who has retired.
Dr. Maurice Hamington began as Executive Dean for Academic Affairs-Transfer in April. He previously taught business and social science at Lane as part of a 25-plus career teaching in higher education. Most recently he directed the bachelor's degree completion program at Antioch University in Seattle. Before that, he was associate vice president of academic centers and programs at Metropolitan State University of Denver after serving as an associate dean and department chair. Previously, he was professor and chair of the philosophy department at University of Southern Indiana. He has a doctorate in religion and social ethics from the University of Southern California, a second doctorate in philosophy from the University of Oregon, an MBA from USC, and a bachelor's in business administration from Loyola Marymount University. He replaces Don McNair, who has retired.
Dr. Kerry Levett joined Lane as Executive Dean for Student Affairs in August. She comes to Lane from Finger Lakes Community College in New York where she served as associate vice president of student affairs. Previously she was director of residential life and judicial affairs at Hilbert College in Hamburg, NY, assistant to the director of undergraduate engagement at W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, and dean of student life at Cook College in Tempe, AZ. She has a doctorate in higher and postsecondary education from Arizona State University, a master's in education from the University of Colorado, and a bachelor's in Christian education from Westminster College, PA. She replaces Kate Barry, who has retired.
