LCC Student Production Association Announces 2013-2014 Season

EUGENE, OR - The Student Productions Association (SPA) of Lane Community College is pleased to announce its 2013-14 season.

Theatre at LCC is undergoing some changes. SPA is excited about their revised production calendar, professional guest artists, and participation in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. For more information about LCC theatre and SPA contact David Harvey David.Harvey814@gmail.com or Brian Haimbach at haimbachb@lanecc.edu

Auditions for all shows are open to the public!

"In The Next Room," or "The Vibrator Play," by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Willow Norton. Auditions are October 2 and 3. Performances are November 13-16 and 20-23 at 7:30 p.m. and November 17 at 2:00 p.m. Sarah Ruhl's acclaimed play, in its Eugene Premiere, is a romantic comedy set in the Victorian age. The play is thoughtful, funny, touching and risqué and is designed for adults with open hearts and open minds. Willow Norton is a New York City based theatre artist returning to her native Eugene to direct this play. She holds a B.F.A. in theatre from Cornish College of the Arts.

"Waiting For Godot" by Samuel Beckett, directed by Brian Haimbach. Performances are February 6-8 and 12-15 at 7:30 p.m. Auditions are November 18 and 19. Beckett's classic Absurdist comedy tells the story of two vagabonds struggling with life's trials and tribulations. How do we fill our days? What does it mean to be human? Where did I leave my boots? Nobody knows for sure, but we're all in this together – like it or not. Brian Haimbach recently assumed the position of lead theatre faculty at Lane Community College. He recently appeared in Oregon Contemporary's Theatre's production of "Next to Normal" and will direct at OCT this season.

"A Midsummer Night's Dream" by William Shakespeare, directed by Judith "Sparky" Roberts. Performances are April 16-19 and 23-26 at 7:30 p.m. and April 20 at 2:00 p.m.

Auditions are January 8 and 9. Contact David Harvey or Brian Haimbach at haimbachb@lanecc.edu for information about special free performances for school groups. One of the world's most well-known theatrical extravaganzas has something for everybody. The fairy world collides with the human world, leading to hilarious havoc and heartwarming romance. Judith "Sparky" Roberts is a longtime LCC instructor and independent theatre artist.

"Shakespeare Showcase" performances are December 7, 2013 and March 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 .pm. SPA is continuing the tradition of presenting scenes and monologues performed by current and returning students. As always, this treasury of gems from The Bard is free.

"Spring Inspirations" performances are May 21-24 at 7:30 p.m. and May 25 at 2:00 p.m. SPA presents its annual showcase of student written and directed plays. This year, plays will be performed in repertory so the audience can come back and see a different play each night.

Season tickets are $20 each and available by phone: (541) 463-5202. Individual show tickets are $8 general admission, and $5 for students, seniors, and LCC staff.
