EUGENE, OR - Lane Community College recently held its Second Annual "Women in Trades" Workshop. The event welcomed seven panelists and attracted more than 45 participants.
The event gave students a chance to network with successful professionals from the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Eugene Chapter 77, and to hear the panelists talk about their careers in the trades and opportunities for graduates.
Panelists included Lisa Bean of Eugene Water and Electric Board's Water Control Systems; Amanda Ring of Knife River Construction (Engineering), and vice president of Eugene NAWIC; Janet Spriggs of Balhizer and Hubbard Engineering; Shelly Cooper, low voltage electrician and union employee; Patty McConnell, owner of Old Dominion Auto Body; Janet Coleman of EWEB's Meter Shop; and Ellie Cooper, Edge Construction supply representative, and president of the Eugene NAWIC.
The event was sponsored by Lane's Women's Center, STEM-TRIO program, and Advanced Technology Division.
