Lane Preview April 18 expected to draw hundreds of high school students and their families to LCC

EUGENE, OR - Lane Preview 2013, the annual open house at Lane Community College for future students and their families, will be held Thursday, April 18, from 5-8 p.m. in the gym, building 5, main campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue, Eugene.

The event is an opportunity to visit main campus, learn more about Lane's academic and career training programs, and get a better feel for what higher education is all about. It's also a chance to meet faculty and win prizes like Titan gear and tuition certificates.

The schedule:

5 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. – Kick-off (Gym)

5:20 p.m. to 8 p.m. – Showcases: Choose to attend two different showcases from the list below to get a closer look at some of featured academic programs. The Lane Academic Program Overview is perfect for those who may be interested in programs not featured by this year's showcases.

First Showcase from: 5:20 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Second Showcase from: 5:50 p.m. to 6: 25 p.m.

Campus Tours: Meet a tour guide and get behind the scenes access to labs, departments, the recreation center and main campus.

Health Professions: Offers a variety of programs and classes to assist individuals wishing to enter healthcare careers. The excellence of each program is evidenced by our graduates' high scores on licensing board exams and rapid employment. All programs are accredited by governing boards.

Advanced Technology: Provides professional technical training to prepare individuals for the rapidly changing demands of "high tech" industries. Every Advanced Technology program offers hands-on experience in business, industry and government agencies through Cooperative Education. In these programs, Lane offers: two-year associates degrees in applied science and/or one to two-year certificates of completion.

Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management: The first in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest to be dually-accredited by the American Culinary Federation Foundation Accrediting Commission (ACFFAC) and the Accreditation Commission of Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA). Our Culinary Arts Program is recognized as having Exemplary Status!

College Now: Allows currently enrolled area high school students to earn Lane Community College credits for approved courses taken on their home high school campuses, taught by specifically qualified high school teachers.

Lane Academic Programs Overview ( Room 108, Bldg 10) Come to hear about all of the programs we offer at Lane, including our Career and Technical Programs leading directly to a career and our College Transfer programs preparing you to transfer to a four-year institution.

6:30 p.m. to 7:10 p.m. – Admissions and Financial Aid Information Sessions: Come to learn everything you need to know about applying to Lane, the financial aid application and award process, information on our College Now dual credit programs and to have all of your questions about attending Lane answered.

7:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. – Academic Programs and Student Activities Fair Join us in the gym to receive information and connect with faculty, staff and students from more than 75 academic programs, student services and student club and activities.

Participants may turn in a signed program with their phone number starting at 8 p.m. in the lobby outside the gym to be entered in a raffle for a free credit class. Winners will be drawn on Friday, April 19.

8 p.m. – Lane Preview ends

Lane Community College is a comprehensive community college offering two-year associate degrees and one-year certificates in a variety of instructional programs. Students can earn an Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer degree and continue their education, or prepare for career in more than 40 occupations. Lane also offers continuing education noncredit courses, foundational academic and language programs, business development services and custom workforce training and cultural and community services. Classes are available at main campus, downtown Eugene, Florence, Cottage Grove, online, and by telecourse.
