This year Collaborations will feature the choreography of guest artist Melecio Estrella. When asked about the new work, entitled "You Came From This", Estrella said "Cycles of nurturing show themselves in our familial dynamics. Our families, whether chosen or biological can give us moments of great unrest, or a safe bed where we can lie down to rest. It's always changing. This original work was made in close collaboration with the dancers." Estrella also assisted in composing the original score for the piece, along with such luminaries as Ben Juodvalkis and Damara Ganely.

Melecio Estrella is a Bay Area dance artist. As a performer in the field, he has spent the last decade flying in unusual places with the aerial dance company Bandaloop (www.bandaloop.org). Concurrently, for the last 8 years he has been a member of the Joe Goode Performance Group (www.joegoode.org). Since 2007 he has stepped into the role of choreographer in Dance, Theater and Opera. Melecio's work has been presented at the San Francisco Opera Center, The West Coast Contact Improv Festival, Randee Paufve's 8x8x8 and has included commissions by numerous schools and Bay Area dance companies.dancers on stage

Also featured in the concert is Bonnie Simoa's original piece "Devi Slays the Leyak" which is her first composition in Balinese dance. The score for the piece was composed by Jeffery Allen. "Devi Slays the Leyak" is about a mythical character that emerges from the ethers to slay all evil. The enchanting story is told using traditional Balinese movements and stunning costuming, and is danced Amanda Canepa.

Choreographer and LCC Dance instructor Sarah Nemecek brings an ambitious costume piece "sketches in a journal from a year I can't remember" to the stage. The work rekindles the dancers experience of being in the moment of a memory, with emphasis placed on the dancers' sensations in performing movement. The piece is scored with old-school R&B cuts.tired dancers on stage

The concert is rounded out by Margo VanUmmersen's work, "Formalities", set to the music of Schubert and Schumann; and two hip-hop pieces by Anita Sanford, "Thrift Shopping", set to the tune "Thrift Shop" by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis ft. Wanz and "Greed is Good" with music by Pink Floyd, the O'Jay's Lily Allen, Nicole Kidman and Linkin Park.
