EUGENE, OR - Three positions on the Lane Community College Board of Education are up for election in the May 21 special district election, including Zones 1, 3 and 4.
The Zone 1 position represents the Western part of college district and currently is held by Sharon Stiles of Florence. She is this year's chair and has served since her election in May 2009. She is a retired instructor, mediator and equal opportunity employment officer for the Department of Defense.
The Zone 3 position represents the Marcola and Springfield part of college district and currently is held by Dr. Gary LeClair of Springfield. He was elected in May 2009. He is a physician.
The Zone 4 position represents the Eastern part of college district and currently is held by Susie Johnston of Eugene and formerly of Pleasant Hill. She is a retired conference planner and Lane graduate. She was first elected in May 2005.
Board members serve four-year terms. Candidates must live in the zone they run for, even though all voters in the district vote on all positions.
