Ingrid Jensen to headline 2013 Oregon Jazz Festival at LCC

EUGENE, OR – Award-winning trumpeter Ingrid Jensen will headline the 2013 Oregon Jazz Festival. Her bio states "Born in Vancouver and raised in Nanaimo, Canada, Ingrid headed east after receiving a number of scholarships to attend the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Since graduating in 1989, her life has contained a whirlwind of musical activities. From her early days playing in the subways of New York, to establishing herself as a leader and soloist in a wide array of musical genres, Ingrid has made her mark. Her three CDs for the ENJA label and her latest CD, 'At Sea,' won her nominations from the Canadian Juno Awards, including an award in 1995 for Vernal Fields. Currently, she is an artist-in-residence on the trumpet faculty at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Jensen continues to fill her schedule with an astonishing array of artistic creativity as a performer and educator. Jensen will join the Oregon Jazz Ensemble and the Lane Jazz Ensemble for a concert at the University of Oregon's Beall Hall on Friday night, January 25. Other featured performers that night include Dave Glenn, trombone; Dan Gaily, saxophone; Rob Tapper, trombone; and James Miley, piano. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 general admission and $7 for students and seniors. Tickets are available online at www.lanecc.edu/tickets, or at the door the night of the show.

Saturday night, January 26, the music moves to the Ragozzino Performance Hall on the Lane Community College main campus. Ingrid Jensen will perform in a concert with noted Northwest jazz artists Randy Porter, piano; Dave Captein, bass; and Gary Hobbs, drums. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $18 general admission and $12 for students and seniors.
