LCC Non-Profit Management Institute Sponsors Free Workshop on the Motivation of Giving Nov.8

Eugene OR - Renowned researcher Dr. Paul Slovic, will offer a free workshop on, "What Motivates People to Help Others in Need?", Thursday, November 8, from 6-7:30 pm.

The presentation is geared towards nonprofits and other charitable agencies. Dr. Slovic answers the question, "How do we decide when to give and how much?" Insight into the emotions and decisions–that impede or trigger giving–will be explored. In a time when there are so many people in need and resources are dwindling; this will be of special interest to those tasked with meeting the demands for vital donations and aid.

Dr. Slovic's recent work has focused on "psychic numbing" and the failure to respond to mass human tragedies. He is recognized as one of the leading authorities on human judgment, decision-making and risk perception; and is the president of Decision Research and a professor of psychology, at the University of Oregon;

This event is sponsored by: the Non-Profit Management Institute at LCC Small Business Development Center, Eugene Public Library, Women's Opportunity Worldwide, Friends of Eugene Public Library, & Eugene Public Library Foundation. The Eugene Public Library is located at 100 West 10th Avenue.
